It just keeps coming...

St. Anselm drops out of the Plattsburgh tournament. The schedule is now as follows:

Friday, Jan. 7 – Plattsburgh State vs. Albertus Magnus (7 p.m.)
Saturday, Jan. 8 – Albertus Magnus vs. King's (Pa.) (5:30 p.m.)
Sunday, Jan. 9 – Plattsburgh State vs. King's (Pa.) (5 p.m.)

Plus, new spectator rules for Stafford Arena:
  • Masks must be worn at all times and will be strictly enforced
  • Consumption of food or drink is prohibited
  • In an effort to reduce density, admittance into the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena is limited to the following groups: season ticket holders; family of competing student-athletes; SUNY Plattsburgh students, faculty and staff; game personnel; and credentialed members of the media
  • Vaccination against COVID-19, including a booster shot, is encouraged

Interesting rules put in place, is this for all SUNYAC schools and all sports, or just Platty?

Just Plattsburgh. This year, the schools are pretty much dictating policies for themselves, not the conferences.

Feels like I may have seen my last hockey game for quite awhile. Plattsburgh doesn't want fan support, I don't see the point in supporting them. Plattsburgh doesn't draw that well anyway. There's plenty of spacing in that building. The season ticket holders don't go to games (hence the phantom 2,000 people announced for attendance every game). Thank goodness season ticket holders and parents can catch or pass COVID....

Oswego at Utica on Sunday postponed. (At least according to Oswego. I don't see any announcement on the Utica website.)

Cortland is subbing in for Oswego to play at Utica on Sunday at 3:00.

The Cortland-Neumann game on Saturday is cancelled. Cortland is still playing at Nazareth tonight

Well, if you subscribe to the theory that because Omicron is highly transmissible it will burn out quicker, than maybe we'll be okay by March.

Delta is still the biggest problem. If more people had been vacced, with breakthrough cases being much less severe and therefore the healthcare system less taxed, we'd be in a better place right now...

The government is saying that 97% of new cases are omicron... so Delta isn't the biggest problem any more. (if you can believe the government....)

Unfortunately our health care system is hurting due to lack of nurses and other health care professionals that didn’t want to get vaxed. This leaving our hospital short staffed and closing floors down due to lack of health care providers. Not sure what variant is causing the havoc, all of our bodies react differently to the virus. Hopefully things can be straightened out and all these athletes can play.

Yes, I agree with all of the conference games getting postponed..

That's the least of the worries. If the NCAA deems it safe to hold a tournament, they will figure out how to select 12 teams. Even if Fishman completely disagrees with their selection method... :-) Besides, conferences can still figure out how to select a champion for the automatic bid, no matter how many games are cancelled. Let's not forget, we got half the season in so far. That's a lot better than last year, and the NCAA was already prepared to hold a tournament with a lot less games expected to be played.

I agree Russell, I think you may also see teams get into the tournament and possibly have an outbreak like some of the football teams had. I would assume they NCAA would consider that a no contest and the other team will advance to the next round.

That's true. I never said the tournament would go smoothly. :-) Yes, it would be a no contest in that regard and the other team would move on.
