Sunyac 2022-23..

Which point system is correct for SUNYAC, the one on the SUNYAC site or the one here at USCHO ??

I would hope the one on the SUNYAC site is the correct one….but ya never know. Plus I know schools and conferences with Prestosports websites have been having difficulty at times with getting customer support at times if something was incorrect.

seems like a lot of schools are charging for streaming....WTOP oswego still a freeo...

Most charge for HD but the SD is free. Plattsburgh is this way. You get a 90 second HD preview and if you do not upgrade you are switched to the SD version for free.

WTOP10 is a student funded, student run club. While they work closely the Athletic Department and Alumni and Development, their mission is to provide real world experience for students - most are in the School of Communications, Media and the Arts, but the club is open to all. They broadcast all sports free for all to enjoy.

And to me one of the best. The best thing is just clicking on You Tube Live and watching on my 55 inch TV.

So nobody knows what the SUNYAC tiebreakers are or where to find them? Russell?

This is what I found from 2012:

This is it. The last weekend of the regular season. No more, “We’ll get ’em next week.” No more, “We need some points next weekend.” No more, “We’ll learn from these lessons and apply them next week.”

For next week is the playoffs. This is your last chance to either get in them, host a game, or take a breather.

Let’s set the stage for what can happen when this weekend is over. Hopefully, your head won’t explode like mine did.

Before we begin, here are the tiebreaker rules as stated in the 2011-12 SUNYAC Handbook under the Ice Hockey Team Operating Codes and Tournament Information section.

1. The best record of tied teams against each other based on Conference play (tournament play will not be considered).
2. Number of total Conference wins over ties if points are equal.
3. Goal differential against each other in Conference play.
4. Goal differential against all other Conference teams.
5. Coin flip by Commissioner.

Not sure if this is still in effect.

That's so old, it's completely worthless.

They changed it quite a bit to a much more complicated system. One, they have never really publicized, so I have no idea anymore.

Someone last night gave me a list of the tiebreakers in place a few years ago (not sure where she got it, but I trust her as a reliable source). The point systems have changed twice since this was implemented, but seems to be the most updated we have at this point. I reached out to Coach Moffat via email to ask him and never received a response. Anyway, here's the list I have:

1. Most points earned in conference games among tied teams
2. Number of conference wins over ties
3. Record vs. common opponent, beginning with the top of the standings and working downward. For tied teams, the combined record against the tied teams is used
4. Most points in road conference games
5. Goal differential amongst tied teams in conference games against each other
6. Goal differential in conference games
7. Coin flip

That's what I have a week before the end of the conference season. You'd think the conference would want their tiebreakers out there for transparency reasons...

Plattsburgh defeats Potsdam 5-3 last night. An absolutely dominating performance by the Cards to start the game, but then they struggled with their puck handling for long stretches to keep the Bears in it.

Plattsburgh started their backup goaltender last night, which I thought was an interesting move given how few (and spaced out) the games are from here on out and how important it was for Plattsburgh to win these games.

Plattsburgh is claiming they clinched at least second. And are already saying they are planning semifinal ticket sales.

Probably right. They have 23 points now and Genny has 21 with only one remaining game. The most they could get is 23 points. Plattsburgh has a win and tie over Genny and that is probably the first tiebreaker although the public does not know that for sure. The "Mushroom Feeling"

I didn’t think about the scenario if Geneseo ties Oswego or there’s a three-way tie. So yeah, you may be tight, Genny could still finish second.

Plattsburgh hangs on for 5-3 win over Morrisville. As always the Ponies make the third period interesting. Plattsburgh secures at least second.
