Well besides Geneseo's "poor" season due to injuries, I was pretty close. So now we have:

Fredonia and Geneseo split the regular season winning on their home ice. Geneseo took the first contest with a 2-1 win back in October. Fredonia would take the second meeting at Steele Hall winning 4-2. The Devils held a 4-1 lead late into the third period.

Overall
Fredonia
Pen: 10-20
PP: 0-8
SOG: 60

Geneseo:
Pen: 11-30
PP: 2-8
SOG: 62

I have to go with the home team this weekend. Fredonia is limping into the playoffs going 1-4-0 in their last 5, while Geneseo is 3-1-1 with their 1 loss a close 1-2 loss against Plattsburgh.

Prediction:
Fredonia - 2
Geneseo - 4

Bengals and Bears Oh My...
Potsdam @ Buff State
6-10-0 vs 8-7-1

The Buff State Bengals were swept in 2011-2012 by one of the North Country teams, but it wasn't Plattsburgh. Potsdam went 2-0-0 vs the Bengals this year with a 3-2 and 5-1 win over the Bengals. The Bears came back from an 0-2 early deficit to win the first game 3-2 with two late 3rd period goals. Bear goaltender Kevin McFarland has really brought a much needed stability between the pipes for the Bears. Two young goaltenders will be tested early and often. Sy Nutkevitch for the Bears has been outstanding against the Bengals. In two games this season Sy has 6 points (2-4-6).

Overall
Buff St:
Pen: 14-28
PP: 0-9
SOG: 59

Potsdam:
Pen: 11-22
PP: 4-13
SOG: 36

It would seem the Bears should be the clear favorite, but limping into the playoffs losers of their last 4 I just don't see it happening.

Buff State- 4
Potsdam- 3

Note that the Bears back in January, following a 4 game winless streak (2 losses - 2 ties) went on to beat Skidmore, who following their tie the weekend before couldn't be taking them too lightly - more like looking for revenge (and Skidmore just beat Castleton last night). It might be that some teams take them too lightly or that they simply step it up when they feel they have nothing to lose. Can Potsdam do it? Buffalo certainly has shown home ice advantage, but Potsdam has shown they can get it done - especially against Buffalo this season. It will be the game I'll be watching this Wednesday.

Interesting... Plattsburgh will be hosting a team that will have played Wednesday night and then have a LONG bus ride to the north country whether they end up playing Genny, Freddy, or Buff St...

I thought Brockport had the tie breaker over Potsdam but I'm not going to begin to try and make sense of the process of "Jenga" as had been mentioned.

Not only that, but Potsdam owned every tie-breaker criteria (conference wins (6-5), conference goal differential (-12 vs. -16)) that weren't tied (head-to-head (1-1), and h2h goal differential (8-8)). There wasn't a single tie-breaker criteria Brockport won. So, I could never understand why some Brockport people thought they had the tie-breaker.

This kid looked to be a stud, anything happen that he didnt play to much or was there a personality clash,as someone mentioned he MAY need to "keep his head on straight"??

After the 3rd period they do a full intermission and zamboni the ice. This differs from the regular season which is just a 2 minute break and you play on the chewed up surface. Once the intermission is over they put 20 minutes on the clock and begin Sudden Death OT - first goal wins and advances. If no one scores after 20 minutes, full intermission again, 20 minutes of play, repeat until goal is scored.

For someone who claims to be a fan, you do nothing but complain about the program...Since you do most of your work out west anyway, why not become a Potsdam fan - I'm sure their coach and AD will love to have you as a "fan".

That is because Norm usually doesn't have Red and White colored glasses on and can look at things rationally. I know if Oswego were years behind in terms of radio/tv coverage compared to many other programs, I would chirp in here and there about...

Keep up the rational thinking Norm... It's a breathe of fresh air!

Even for a Platty fan ;)
