Stimulus checks

Re: Stimulus checks

I read somewhere that there were a number of possible explanations for delays. For instance, if you filed electronically but owed money instead of getting a refund, I don't think the checks are automatically going in unless you go in and specifically sign up for it. Just filing electronically is not enough if you still owed taxes.

Also, and I was unaware of this, but if you use a tax preparer like HR Block or someone like that, they may actually set up a separate bank account into which your refund normally goes. Then they remove your fees before sending you the balance of your refund. If something like that was done, then the stimulus money would be directed to that account. If the account is still open, your tax preparer will be sending it to you but it may take some time. If the account was already closed, then you might have to wait for a check.

The same is true if the bank account you last used happens to be closed because you switched banks, moved, etc...

That 1st example is me. But at the same time, when I enter my info on the site, I get the message stating that they can't look up my eligibility. Because of that, I can't enter my bank info.

I was planning on using the full extention until July, but I went ahead and filed & paid yesterday. It sounds like I had to pay my $212 in order to get my $1200. At this point I assume everything the Feds do will be a complete C-F  Just got to hope for the best.

Happened to me too. I owed 800 bucks. Called my tax guy and he said if you paid in you had to enter your bank info again. He did that for me and now I’m just waiting for it to hit my bank account

I owe this year, but got my full $1200. I don't know why this year's taxes should matter, as everything they're working from to determine payments are 2019 returns.

Re: Stimulus checks

I still haven't received my stimulus. The IRS website was no help (couldn't look up my eligibility). I decided to file my 2019 taxes to see if that will help. It looks like we should get around $1,900 out of the $2,900 based on our 2019 taxes. Also, I usually pay in a bunch every year so I had extra money withheld this year. Looks like I over did it so I got a refund of $1100 from the feds and $620 from Maine. I was trying to break even, so I might need to tweak my current withholdings.

Re: Stimulus checks

I took the money and true to its name did the best thing I could do to stimulate the economy.

I donated it to the Biden campaign. ;)

Is this a real question?

What would you “owe” have to do with anything?

Re: Stimulus checks

Don't know as my wife and I have not received our stimulus check either, and we owed in 2018 and 2019, and just filed our tax return last week.

Still getting a "we cannot determine your eligibility" error on the IRS website.

I had to give my bank account info again to them as I had to pay in this year too. Still waiting for it too

Sorry, it doesn't match the high bar of unoriginal dementia cracks and "go trump go!".

Hey, give em a break. The thread with the trump humpers is done, and their miracle cure drug has now been shown to be, gasp, ineffective. Rough times

Isn’t it less so that it’s ineffective and more so that it’s hastening death as it exacerbated one of the very stresses on the body caused by the Coronavirus? Hmm...
