State of College Hockey

Just wondering about the general enthusiasm and interest in college hockey across the country. I have been a season ticket holder in Gopher land since the 70's. Did not renew them this year. Really discouraged by the early exits of players; players playing like they are saving themselves for bigger and better things; the ridiculous prices of tickets; and equally ridiculous price of "season parking"; the corporate environment of the crowds (come late / leave early); lack of student ticket availability. Note: I realize the irony of that last complaint since I haven't been a student at MN for over 30 years. But I really enjoyed the student enthusiasm at the former home of Gophers (Williams Arena).

And of course can't ignore the on-ice results; Gopher weekend hockey used to be highlight of our weekend. There's always the T-Wolves, Wild.... maybe there are some Jr teams looking to relocate here.

Holy ****.

Is this the most arrogant post ever without even realizing it? I don't know, but perhaps.

Dude, it's not Armageddon just because the Gophers suck.

I think he's simply asking if what ails UM is similar elsewhere regarding early departures, failure to live up to expectations, etc., etc. I didn't take it as a, "UM is the center of the universe" type of comment but rather reflects a lack of a feel about the bigger picture in general. Settle down, Beavis.

Maybe if some additional Big-Ten teams were added to the league it could help the Gopher equation with more enthusiasm. A corporate Gopher world needs the "Old Barn" approach to their hockey atmosphere...there are solutions. I gotta plan!!!

The state of college hockey is MN.

The Gophers decided to let some other teams win. We feel that we need to spread the wealth, to draw in more fans.

It's for the greater good. Trust us. We're tConspiracy.

Re: State of College Hockey

Please, call me when you organize something like that to support your team. Well, I'm unlisted. And screen calls.

You should be so proud.
Getting shirts made for a guy who sucked so much he lost his job to a former 3rd string walk-on and then didn't have the stones to stay and try to get the job back.
Much easier to just quit and head back to juniors with his tail between his legs.

Maybe we should have done that for Weslosky.

Try to keep up with facts, I know it is hard for you. 3rd string goalie for 09-10 = Aaron Crandall, who didn't play a single minute.

Also, try to conceal your envy. Biddco and I had an awesome time making the shirts and selling them. People loved them, and they REALLY loved Biddy as the banana. What have you (and your wife) done for your team and your fans ever? I mean, other than embarrass them.

I fully expect Bob Motzko to beg Hjelle to go to St, Cloooud. Of course, if he doesn't work out, you will find a way to categorize him such that you can still claim "All former tUMD players who come to St, Cloooud DOMINATE!1111!!!! tUMD!"

I said former 3rd string goalie, meaning he was the third string the year before behind Hjelle and Stalock. (08-09)
He was also 3rd string in 07-08 behind Stalock and Ziegelmann.
Good God, it's really sad when I know more about your team than you do.

He probably will become a Husky, and he'll be our 3rd stringer, except we'll give Lee the weekend off whenever we play Gophers Lite. And that claim is pretty true, you guys made Dan Kronick look like Parise.

$10 million in plastic surgery couldn't make Kronick look like Mike Ricci, much less Parise.

Man oh man. I just love it when you morons waddle into a thread I'm in. *sharpens talons*

No, what's really sad is that you went to collegehockeystats.net or some other such site, looked it up, and then claimed to be some sort of Bulldog hockey expert. This is not proprietary information. I know this. I am practically stalking the entire team.

You make it sound like you sewed all of the shirts yourself.

Well this is a ridiculous statement. You think I know how to sew?

Of course it sucks that we did the t-shirts and now he's left the team. But that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy the process or regret doing it. I'm not sorry that Biddy and I came up with the idea and carried it out. We made our money back and more, we had a lot of fun, and people enjoyed it. I don't know why this is supposed to suddenly be a source of shame for me. It's not like they were mean shirts and drove him away.

Again, so stupid! Parise is h0t!!111! Kronick could never look like that! But, at the risk of working Rabib into a lather again, when I pointed out that Mitch Ryan had not been nearly such a windfall for the team as Coole and Kronick, Rabib fell all over himself trying to find a loophole to discount him. "But... but... SHOE SALESMAN... and... dsfkhgdshgsd." I think that was a direct quotation.
