St. Lawrence Skating Saints Lake Placid Edition

Re: St. Lawrence Skating Saints Lake Placid Edition

Greg's resume continues to grow and you are 100% correct Spaceman, as this will help recruiting.

It sure has been one heck of a year for Greg and the Saints as a whole. The future sure does look bright in Canton, that's for sure! :)

Re: St. Lawrence Skating Saints Lake Placid Edition

So my Leafs cleaned house yesterday from the GM to all of the coaches. I was just reading an article which stated Ray Shero would make the most sense as the new GM. I can only hope and pray....

Steve Spott (Gate 90) had just been made an assistant. He has been exceptional everywhere he's gone. Wonder why he was fired too, he deserves a shot. Check out his resume, please !

Yes I was a bit surprised when they let him go but a new HC is going to want his guys.

Well it's the offseason. This serves as a good time to take a more in depth looks at some of SLU's incoming recruits. Let's start by taking a look at Jacob Pritchard who will be arriving on campus this fall.

Two years ago, Pritchard was teammates with Joe Sullivan in the USHL and playing for the Indiana Ice. Pritchard, who is a forward known for creating space, scored 14 goals, 22 assists for 36 points in 49 games for the Ice. In the postseason the Ice went on the win the Clark Cup in the USHL.

This season Pritchard played for Powell River in the BCHL and he finished 5th overall in league scoring (39 G, 37 A, 76 PTS in 54 games). In the playoffs he had 8 goals, 7 assists for 15 points in 13 games.

Needless to say Pritchard should add some offensive punch for the Saints next season.

Step 1, complete.

Some random thoughts and comments:
-Brandon....many of the locals here in Boston feel that Don Sweeney is the odds on favorite to replace Chiarelli. Their presser said they are looking both inside and outside the organization. Sweeney would be a good choice considering his history and tenure with the team. Lost in the shuffle was the fact that three of the Bruins scouts were also let go. They are/have been very disappointed with the draft picks.
-Spaceman.....thanks for the excellent update on Pritchard. Looks like he has some stick handling skills.
-On the Assistant Coach position for Coach Carvel.........he, Richards and Byalsma have their work cut out for them. Their roster has college players, KHL players, and a few lesser known pros. Canada's roster is a veritable NHL All Star team.

If they hire Sweeney they should have just kept chia pet. When you say you want to get better you don't hire #2. Ray is so highly respected throughout the league some talk has been him going to work for the league instead of "just a GM for a team."

Bruins wanted him 9 years ago and he turned them down. Hope they offer him again. If they do, he'll have some major challenges to fix.

As a Bruins fan I am not in love with Shero as many of you are. His cap management is pretty bad in my view and he was gift wrapped Crosby/Malkin when he walked in. He has one cup and one other appearance along with numerous playoff failures. When you have two of the top 5 players in the game on your roster having that many failures is pretty unacceptable. The Bruins just got rid of a guy who couldn't manage the cap. I don't want another guy that can't manage one either. He will get a job somewhere. I just hope that place is not in Boston.

Perhaps, having two prima donnas (both of which were hurt a lot, one with post concussion syndrome) was a big part of the problem. I'd rather give 10% of the cap to each of those guys than Rask.

Brian Ward will captain the team next season. Assistants will be Thompson, Sweetman and Dahl.

Good choices.

I agree good choices. All of the above are team players and have a strong sense of character which will make them great leaders of the team.

Re: St. Lawrence Skating Saints Lake Placid Edition

I was looking at your schedule and ours for next year, and am guessing that we will play home & home November 13 & 14, or will play one game that weekend and a Tuesday night somewhere else. I didn't see another weekend where both of us were open, except for the holiday weekends. We've seemed to gravitate more towards the home & home, and think that will be where it ends up. The Clarkson series is the only one that hasn't been put on Flaggy's 2015-16 schedule yet for SLU. Clarkson just has the SLU and 2 non conference weekends left, which will probably end up the two open October weekends.
