4-1 Clarkson...We looked awful all night long...Back to the basics on all aspects for this team...Time to shuffle lines and see what happens...Clearly what we got going isn't working...I personally miss Joe Marsh already!!!

While we all miss Joe......losing this game has nothing to do with him not being there. We have a coaching staff (right now) that I would not switch with any team in the ECAC. With all the experience Coach Carvel and Coach Hurlbut have at the college and NHL level.....no other team in the ECAC can match that. Given what we (and they) have to deal with, I think they will make the most of it and the team and program is in GREAT hands. No one is going to replace Joe, but we have the best there is and I like the fact we are keeping it in the family.
As to looking awful.......I only was able to listen to parts of the game and I'll agree it was disappointing. It's a league game, playing at home, opportunity for a milestone win for the program against our biggest rival.....and they come out flat. I've said this in the past and I'll say it again. When your talent is not the best in the country let alone the league.....and with all the parity in the ECAC....you cannot play a 20 minute game or a forty minute game; you have to play a 60 minute game. And even if you are up.....you have to put your foot on the other teams neck and keep on pushing. It's got to be there from the start to the finish and it wasn't that way tonight.
I'm sure they feel bad now.....but I hope they know how much that game meant to us fans, alumni, supporters, and long time followers of the program. A very disappointing evening to be sure.
I agree...It's just disappointing when you are home against your biggest rival and one win shy of the 1000th in program history and we come out like that...Very frustrating indeed...The whole getting outworked thing is becoming all too common lately for this team...We never used to see this from the team as we were always the hardest working bunch of the league...They need a fire lit under them and I would have bet my last dollar that tonight would have been the night, but alas to no avail...Oh well, nothing we can do about it now...On to Lake Placid and Clarkson again on Saturday night.
Wondering if someone could help me out here; what years did SLU have a pep band?
Thanks and look forward to seeing everyone in Lake Placid this weekend.

Uh, did I stumble onto the Maine thread by mistake? What's next, "Fire Carvvay?" In fairness, I have to admit that I was not pleased either with what I saw on the internet--our team did lose--but what I also saw was Farkson taking advantage of a few chances, and SLU missing more than a few. Sigh.I agree with you -----This team and this style of hockey is not fun to watch anymore .With two of the top scorers in the country ,and to get taken to the woodshed like this ?????? Clarkson is a well coached team and he gets them up for the game. They deserved to win last night.
Maybe so and I hope you are right (regarding Ward). Curious to know why he left Dartmouth last year early without much playing time if any? So, does he come in as a freshman or sophomore?Brian Ward of Tri-City Storm has committed to SLU for fall of next year.
In 18 games this year, he has a 10g-9a-16PIM line. 6'1, 197 lb forward. 3rd leading scorer on a .500 team. Sounds like a good one to pick up!
In other news for Tri-City, Tim Lappin (Nick Lappin's cousin) has also committed to Bruno. Excellent choice by him choosing that hockey powerhouse!![]()

He comes in as a sophomore and I think he is a great pickup. He injured his back at Dartmouth and then didn't really get a chance to get back in the lineup but he is a very solid recruit. He was MVP at Governor Dummer or whatever they call it now and is better than a point per game in the USHL. He has good size and speed and was rated as high as 91 by CSB in the 2010 draft. Welcome aboard. Seems like a classy kid too. Didn't badmouth the coaches at Dartmouth and instead talked about learning a valuable lesson of needing to work harder than guys in the lineup.
Who wouldn't miss Joe Marsh. I bet Carvy and Hurley miss him. But this staff is extremely competent and will turn the program into winners. I can't explain why we came out flat. The lineup was odd....no Dewey, Thompson, etc. A new walk-on Senior playing wing. Not really tuned in so I don't know whether it was injuries or what but I agree with Mike...would not trade our staff for any other in the league. Joe Marsh hand-picked these guys and stepped aside to keep them...there is no higher compliment. We need more than two guys that can produce offense, and we can't come out flat against our arch-rivals.
I think about 30 of us gave Pete Lappin **** at the Joe Marsh weekend for his kids selecting Brown. I get Ivy's....but Brown - ***? When they are ready to transfer like their uncles, we'll take them...they are family!
@MarkArmstrong - SLU had a pretty sorry excuse for a pep band from about 83-89/90. Then I think they were given a merciful burial and replaced with speakers and the jukebox we have now. SLU is not a pep band / cheerleader type of school.
How about the guy who used to play the keyboard back in the 90's and was situated over the zamboni doors? Just remembered that too. Man, doesn't seem that long ago, but I guess it was almost 20 years ago.
