Canada likely to get the Swiss in the quarter -- that won't be easy.

Finns could shock Russia -- "Glad"imir won't be impressed if that happens.

Swedish women with a huge hammer in the tenth end to get two and win 5-4 against Russia. Beautifully done.

Norwegian snowboarder just blew out her knee...ouch.

EDIT: Another snowboarder just went down hard on the Snowboardcross course and appears to be unconscious...

This is just timed runs for seeding...imagine what it's going to be like when there are 6 of them on the course together

American Jackie Hernandez. She was one of two snowboarders who had to be transported off the mountain today. This is the same slope where Russian Maria Komissarova broke her back.

I'm wondering if the frequency or severity of these wipeouts is unusual. And whether the condition of this course (warm weather, chemical enhancement) is involved.

There is a reason these are called the "Slushi Olympics". I think it contributed to the men's skate being abysmal as well. Only one skater went the whole routine without falling. Skiing in short sleeves might be cool, but hardly conducive to Olympic performances.

Kinda hard to tell when some of the events don't have much history behind them and they lend themselves to "pushing the envelope" with regard to course design and the tricks the athletes perform.

re: the weather, I'm surprised that I haven't seen x-country skiiers dehydrating or cramping.

SBX is by it's nature prone to hard spills... There was a competitor killed at the Whiteface, NY World Cup race back in 05 or 06... I've busted my leg trying to run the USSA Revolution tour in 2006... Not saying that safety is totally disregarded, because tremedous effort goes into the design and building of these courses... But by the nature of the sport, you are gonna have hard falls...

I have yet to see the course, so I don't know what the setup is... Given that Sochi went huge for the slopestyle courses and the Downhill Skiing course, I wouldn't be shocked if the SBX course pushed things...

So were there any USA skiers in the Super-G other than Bode Miller? The announcers are treating the other US skiers like they're from Iran, like they're the enemy. Miller tied for second with only US skiers to go -- that guarantees the US a medal. But they fail to mention that, only that Bode hasn't clinched a medal yet.

I will admit that I'm as big of a Bode fan as their can be... But *** was with the post-race interview... Old Bode would have slapped that reporter for asking about his brother 3 farking times :mad: You know he misses him... You know he was racing for him... You already asked about it... Why did you go back to that TWO MORE TIMES and force the emotion out of him :confused: :mad: :mad:


As far as today goes.... Booooo Fog :mad: Tried staying up for the Men's SBX race, but visibility was too poor to venture on... Guess it took out a biathlon race as well.. I blame Putin for this :p Either way, they will try again tomorrow in both cases...

I turned on the women's hockey game right at the end of the 1st period, heard that the US was outshooting Sweden 29-1, and decided I'd watch something else. :p
