Sochi 2014: From Russia With Love

Re: Sochi 2014: From Russia With Love

So I never tuned my TV away from the Olympics after the US hockey game. Ended up with the ice dancing show, and I just heard Tara Lipinsky say, "Ice dancing is really where you find the princesses and princesses.... err, princes of ice skating." :D

Also, after hearing him speak for the first time ever, I think Johnny Weir might be gay.

He needed to start talking before you came to that conclusion?

And yes, please on Tara Lipinski...:)

The US could play Canada in the Semifinal and Russia for the gold. On the anniversary weekend of the Miracle on Ice. What a weekend that would be.

Even though it was a 730am start, 4.1 million televisions were tuned in for USA-Russia yesterday. It was the highest rated hockey game NBCSN has ever had.

I don't see the US being able to beat Canada. They're just having too much inconsistent play. Russia controlled most of yesterday, and Slovenia had moments of control today. Slovenia - missing Kopitar - was able to dictate play for multiple shifts. Canada is better than both of those teams; Finland is too. Perhaps I'm too used to watching teams I cheer for fold, but these just doesn't look like promising signs moving into elimination play.

Keep in mind that no team in the tournament has really been impressive. That's part of what happens when you don't give these teams much time together. Of course, that should change somewhat in the coming days as they get used to each other. Look at Canada in 2010. They did not look like they were going to do anything, and some predicted they would lose to Russia in the quarters.

Let's just hope that if both teams win on Wednesday that the Semifinal doesn't go to a shootout...Can you imagine Toews and Oshie duking it out for a spot in the gold medal game? It would probably take hours. :p:D:D

Nah, Quick isn't a worthless piece of crap like Frazee was.

I'm not all that impressed with Russia. I think if Finland plays like they did against Canada they could knock off Vlad's boys.

That was probably the most awkward interview I've ever seen. Do NBC reporters get per tear bonus if they can make an athlete cry? "He's looks to be emotional about his dead brother...LET'S KEEP ASKING HIM ABOUT IT!!!" That NBC reporter should be ashamed.

NO kidding . It was obvious he didn't want to talk about it, and he was under no obligation to do so:mad:. "Wish he had gone Belichick on her -- "I'm here to talk about skiing."

One of many reasons I'm glad I got out of that side of the business. Complete garbage.

How sexist of you to objectify males in this way! I'm offended!

see how stupid that sounds?
Oddly enough, it is more the hilarious dorky quality of some of his twitter posts that I find attractive. So yes, how sexist of me to objectify someone for their personality!
Although the six pack and the owl tat are fun to look at.

There have been several times that NBC has had interviews go longer than they should, where it seems obvious they are trying to get tears on camera. For instance, the woman that came in 4th in skeleton. She even admitted she was fighting back tears, so they just kept talking to her. Heck, I even felt bad for Plushenko after he withdrew from the ice skating competition. The camera just kept following him.
