SLU Hockey 2011-2012

Re: SLU Hockey 2011-2012

That may be the closest any North Country team gets to the National Championship Trophy in a long time.

Re: SLU Hockey 2011-2012

Pretty good looking schedule. Don't know if we had Huntsville on tap prior to them being told they would get moved down to club hockey, or if we were able to give them a couple games, but I'm glad to see them on tap.

Bollig nets his first NHL goal tonight for the 'Hawks. Not much better timing than in the playoffs, then the team getting the win in OT!

Re: SLU Hockey 2011-2012

I saw Perani play and I still remember him as one of the best ever at SLU(if not the best). All American too I think. Condolensces.

Re: SLU Hockey 2011-2012

Bob Perani was beyond remarkable as a goaltender. He was even better as a person.

Re: SLU Hockey 2011-2012

Since the Laughs aren't participating (surprise!), I'm bored with the NHL playoffs--so I got to thinking about the ONE thing I hope the Larries can improve on next season. Now, I haven't put a lot of thought into this (bonus!), but it seems to me that this is it: the 50-22 goal differential in the 3rd period. If the team can turn that around, I think everything else will fall into place. Simple, right?

Re: SLU Hockey 2011-2012

Well, much to the chagrin of some who post here (e.g., did anybody say Got 6?), the Rangers are half-way home. The series with the Devils will be a great one.

As for our Saints, perhaps those in the know could provide updates regarding the hiring of an Assistant Coach and for additional recruits, if any. We graduated 2 goalies, 1 d-man, and 4 forwards - but have 1 goalie, 1 d-man, and 2 forwards so far for this Fall. Assuming nobody else is coming in, the Roster would be reduced from 28 to 25. As an aside, CCT is loading up numbers-wise as per Heisenberg's website.

In any event, Gicewicz for 2014 or 2015 appears to be a huge get. Since it's a verbal at this point there's no guarantees, but I think he will enroll and will be a great player at SLU.

GO SAINTS!

Hope you're doing well, Brian. Also everybody else. Work has been keeping me especially busy so far this year, haven't had much time at all at home, probably about 2 weeks (also had 10 days in Florida).

Gicewicz does appear to be a great pickup, hopefully he doesn't end up going elsewhere and/or jumping straight to the pros/major junior.

I would kind of expect to see another recruit or maybe 2 for next year, but there are also a fair number of guys who didn't see much ice last year that I felt looked/sounded good when they did get in, but it would be nice to have some depth in case of another injury bug getting us.

The season is just a short 5 months away, it will be here before we know it. I really hope I get to see more than 1 game, and especially get back to Appleton, as I didn't get to this year for possibly my first year since starting to watch SLU hockey.
