Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Not a lot of love being shown to SLU on the Denver Showcase blog. All BC/DU. Even talk of the format change so that DU won't have to play a weak team. We owe BC and I hope we smoke them big time. I think I dislike BC almost as much as Clarkson.

Where did those 2, almost 3, weeks go? It's great that SLU will be playing again. I hope that Joe gets his first win against BC....I think he played at BC a year or two before transferring to UNH....so BC has decided to get even with him.

Assumed he had stayed at BC he probably never meets the legendary Charlie Holt, who I think most inspired/influenced Joe to become a Coach. I'm glad that Joe transferred.

GO SLU.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Was planning to go to Denver, but have seemingly been snowed in with regard to travel!

I hate BC way more thank Clarkson!!!! Let's also hope that with the showcase format and BC playing Denver on Saturday they are looking right past us. RPI laid one on Michigan. I sure hope we can do the same thing to BC.

Go Saints!!!

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Well, Clarkson played BC to 6-5 earlier this year, so I guess anything is possible.

Hopefully SLU makes this weekend interesting and possibly steals a win or 2. Happy new year everybody and enjoy the game tomorrow or Saturday, Mike, you lucky son-of-a-gun.

I"m all prepared....winter boots, ski pants, long johns and all my ski clothes to try and stay warm. It should be fun. Will be wearing my SLU winter hockey hat to top it all off!!

Happy New Year to everyone (it's better than trying to name everyone and leaving someone out, right Tim??) Hope the Saints have a good showing out West.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

how the heck can a SLU fan have any hatred towards BC at all? like what the hell really is the connection between the schools at all to foster bitterness??

Sorry Mike I couldn't see ya anywhere at Fenway! That overtime scramble by Thomas was awesome, with him and Miller minding the net I think the US Olympic team will be tough this year.

Hopefully SLU can hang in there tonight and make it an interesting game with the BC powerhouse.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Awesome, awesome, awesome win, and a long time coming. Too bad it was in a nonconference game and not one that truly means something, but maybe this can help us gain some ground come March after an underwhelming fall slate.

How about those Saints! Great game - and how nice is it to see Tisi play well against such a powerful offense and actually come away with something to show for it?

An incredible win for the Saints. We finally beat our biggest nemesis in recent decades, and did so for the first time in 27 (oops, now 28) years. And, 4 + 1 EN unanswered goals speaks volumes about the character of our team.

I am in my absolute glory right now....it doesn't get any better than this. Based on the 3rd period scoring, perhaps SLU was in better shape than BC and thus better able to handle the altitude change. Hard work beat better overall talent (at least on paper) tonight - it's about time.

Fantastic way to start the new decade. Way to go, Saints! Congrats. to Joe on finally getting a win over the Eagles, and to Kain Tisi for justifiably and finally getting some solid goal scoring support.

Thank you, SLU!!!!!!!!!:D :D

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Is that a great shot of Coach Joe on CHN, or what? You gotta check it out!

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Some great quotes by him too in the write-up in the scores/recaps. Overall a great write-up as well, much more detailed than normal articles.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Congats to the saints on the big win. Always glad to see the league teams knock off a big name program ooc. I am not a big BC fan myself being they haven`t/won`t schedule RPI. I think its been nearly 15 years since they met in a non tourney game.

SLU played a wonderful game tonight against a somewhat sluggish BC team and its backup goalie. Loved the work ethic on this Saints team - they were full value for the victory. All of SLU's lines were moving their feet and beating BC to loose pucks all night long. Also a loud contingent of SLU fans in Denver (50?)- more than fans than BC and almost as many as UNO.

One of our Denver radio guys (Sandy Clough) is an SLU grad, and he was over the moon tonight.

Good luck against UNO.

Glad to hear it Swami. Thats what we all love about the SLU teams basically every year, they have a relentless work ethic and very, very rarely will be outworked in a game.

Best of luck to the Pioneers against BC tomorrow night, and the rest of the season.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

how the heck can a SLU fan have any hatred towards BC at all? like what the hell really is the connection between the schools at all to foster bitterness??

That is as easy as 1, 2, 3:

1) NCAA Frozen Four in 2000....A close game basically decided by a bounce and a bad call or two and the fans that I ran into were beyond obnoxious.
2) NCAA Tourney in Manchester in 2007, not a close game but the same obnoxious fans.
3) Years and years of being a member of USCHO and having to put up with SteveF, Darin, and a few others and their countless flame wars againt everyone.

Many BC fans on here seem to think the NCAA trophy belongs in the Heights and how dare any other teams compete for it. Not all fans, but some need humility lessons!

Hockey East is broken down into teams that I quietly root for when not playing them...BU, Vermont, Mass, Lowell, UNH and Maine, teams I don't really care about...Providence, Merrimack, and Northeastern and one team I despise...Congratulations!!!:p ;)

Thanks for the notes Puck Swami! I would have been there if not for all the snow on the East Coast. I wish it was a traditional tourney format and not a showcase...it will be pretty hard to win anything (not that I am looking past UNO at all) after what DU did to them last night with a 7-0 pasting. You have put me in the position of having to root for BC, so that is nauseating!:p

SLU teams have heart and work hard. I have really only seen an SLU team quit once ever and it was this year at Maine...but the refs and then the score were pretty stacked against them. Whoever works hardest plays as a rule and that sets the table for a lot of good games.

Watched the DU game on FSRM....holy cow are you guys good! Rakhshani and Maiani both had good games, Good to see Gwoz continuing to do well.
