Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

I'm referring to the current site photo, SLU vs. UNO . . . to see those 2 guys next to each other is inspiring!

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

I'll take it a step further and give Wally Johnson credit for an awesome job at SLU that now spans 33+ years. To serve with excellence and class as the SID at a school that during his tenure has grown to over 30+ sports programs is no small task. And, he does an excellent job as the color analyst during telecasts. SLU is very lucky to have him on staff.

All of his photos are great, so I'm not clear what photo you are referring to. Please advise.

To Leckster - the Yankees do not suck but the NY Giants certainly do. The last two games in weeks 16 and 17 were more embarrassing IMO than THE FUMBLE.:o

It is a well known fact, with years of substatiation, that for all of those north of the NY/CT border and south of the NY/NJ borders, that they Yankees are overpaid, over-roided, complete professionals at SUCK!! It is difficult to explain some confused individuals on this subject such as Spaceman...but even with some animals leaving the herd, facts remain facts!

Seriously, what the Yankees have done with their payroll and what they did to Torre is unforgivable.

"north of the NY/CT border"? Most of the border runs north-south, and the part that is basically east-west has NY to the north. :p. Not only that, but the part of CT that is near the border is mainly Yankee fans.

Well, I guess not every team can be made of up volunteers like the Red Sox.

Have you forgiven the Red Sox for what they did to Jackie Robinson, Mo Vaughan, Carlton Fisk, and Mike Lowell?

:D ;)

I must of had a brain fart on that one as I didn't notice the height differential until viewing that photo again. Although the differential isn't quite that large, it 'kinda reminded me of my son who towers over me. Still think we brought home the wrong kid.

That photo is even more appropriate because David had indeed slain Goliath the night before. Part of what makes college hockey so great is that smaller guys like Travis get to play. Save a few guys like Gionta, forget it in the NHL.

Never said I liked the "Boss". Still blame him for starting free agency which has ruined all pro sports (wouldn't be saying that if I had played, though). I do not like rooting for uniforms instead of players at the pro level. What he did to Torre is as despicable as what Jerry Jones did to Tom Landry. Had the Dodgers made it to the WS, I would have rooted for them to sweep the Yankees.

The Yanks and Cowboys are on even terms - you either love them or you hate them. And, baseball needs to fix the payroll thing (it's a joke IMO).

Never, ever thought the day would come where CCT was 4-12-4 at the midpoint. I bet the natives are getting restless over in Potsdam.

Our Saints are 9-7-3. The team with tons of heart continues to surprise.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

FYI, Appleton now has goal cams installed.

So, replays will decide a few goals. I used to be dead against it, but now believe that getting it right is the way to go. One question, though - Can the cams come into play for intentionally dislodged nets? Geez, it's now 2010 and I am still royally ******ed about that one non-call in 1988.

Got6, I never took you to be such an anti free market and anti-capitalist kind of guy? ;)

I hear the Chinese are looking to beef up their hockey prowess if you are interested....;)

I believe it's just for goals/non-goals. I know at Colgate, the system we have has the goal cameras right over the top of the goal. The view is of the the crease including the goal line and the posts. The vantage point right over the goal is good but if there's a kick just outside the crease you may not catch it. It's not perfect but some replay is better than no replay.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Speaking of Boston-area charities, I contribute every year to the Cam Neely Foundation, which I like for two reasons:
A. It's affiliated with Tufts, and NOT either BU or BC. Not that there's anything wrong with BU or BC, heh.
B. It's also ALL of my annual dues to OYC (Oysterville Yacht Club), the world's greatest YC. Check out their website, or even better, drop in to their "clubhouse" near Osterville: Joe's Twin Villa. Shoot some pool, and have a few. It's NOT the Wianno!

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Hi all, Long time no post for me. I was wondering if anyone was heading out to Niagara for the games this weekend? I talked to the box office yesterday and there are still a lot of tickets because apparently schools isn't in session still. So maybe we could have a decent crowd. My wife and I are in pending weather. Living upstate we all know how that can change in the blink of an eye.

Also, who gets the start tonight and tomorrow? Does he play Tisi who had a great past weekend or go with Petizian? Or maybe play one and then the other since it is a non conference game? I feel like they will each start one game, but who knows. Either way I hope the play well again this weekend. I would be ok with a second half like last year.

GO SAINTS!!!

Yes, well, my problem with the Yankees is they have BY FAR the highest payroll while (I seem to recall) them getting help from NY to build new Yankee Stadium for which some seats go for $1800 per game. That is not the great American pastime that is buggary of the tax payers and fans. I don't have a problem with capitalism, but in pro sports I do favor salary caps. It has helped hockey achieve much more parity. It is a problem when one team has a payroll that is 3-5 times their competition.

Plus, as I have clearly stated, the Yankees really suck!!!:D Madonna and Kate Hudson have both confirmed this!:p

First of all, how many different teams have won the World Series in the past ten seasons? And how many different teams have won the Stanley Cup? The Super Bowl? The NBA title? As a Yankee fan, I shake my head at the number of other teams' fans that LOVE the system when the Yankees lose, but hate it when they win.

But assuming that revenue parity would be a good thing, baseball generates such a ridiculous amount of revenue that you'd have to do more than just have a salary cap. You can't just let the owners keep all that money, when clearly the players are creating the revenue (otherwise the Yankees - and, yes, the RED SOX - wouldn't have payrolls more than five times higher than some of the small-market teams). MLB is going to charge the most it can for its product, period. In order to cap salaries, you'd have to have minimum payrolls. And there's the real problem: right now there are owners taking revenue-sharing money and sticking it in their pockets. George Steinbrenner has every right to be upset when he pays tens of millions of dollars into a pot, and after the Royals' owner takes his fat share, his payroll for the following season declines. MLB could fix that right now without salary caps, and it's guys like Loria in Florida who are perfectly willing to leave things as they are. There are lots of teams with tiny payrolls turning nice profits.

Make them all try to win first.

LET'S GO SAINTS! :)

Sorry Tim, worse than owners sticking revenue sharing money in their pockets is them sticking any money in their pockets when taxpayers paid for their place to play. Nothing ****es me off more than traveling to a place like Denver and paying an extra $5-10/Day in car and hotel taxes for new Broncos, Avs, Nuggets and Rockies stadiums. Ditto for NY. Fenway is older...and I give them credit not only for that, but for not creating a stadium that results in a lot more home runs and for letting supply and demand (scarcity) drive their ticket prices instead of owner greed. The prices for their top seats at Yankee stadium is an insult to all sports. I don't love the system....The Yankees should win EVERY year with that payroll. The players do not need to make more money. A-Roid making $25M a year....I don't think he needs more. That is HALF the payroll of an NHL team for one person. Pro Football is as profitable as Baseball, and the salary cap has worked pretty effectively in that league and has helped NHL hockey as well.

And, I don't know why you are talking about Mike Lowell, he has not been traded...Yet. There is a big difference between being traded and fired which is what they did to Torre who is one of the class guys in baseball.

Yankee suckage is one thing I truly agree with Joe Marsh on.

Great post! Agree with you 100%! Wait till next year when the Yanks sign Lee and Webb, acquire Greinke for a bag of sunflower seeds and also get Mauer for behind the dish.

Go Saints lets' take 2 from Niagara!

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

SLU defeats Niagara 7-2. Nice start to the weekend. Pistokulis and Cunningham with 2 goals each. Flanagan now has 16 points in 16 games.

I will NOT apologize for being a Yankees fan, as I also root for the NY Giants, Rangers, and Knicks.

Right...other than that you are likeable!:p ;) :D We are almost identical in that I root for every team playing the Yankees, NJG...er, I mean the NYG, NYR and Knicks!

Good job by the Saints last night. Let's hope for more of that tonight! Nice to see lots of guys on the score sheet.
