Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

.when you call one team tight and include some "soft" calls in there, and you don't call the other team tight....that is a screwjob.

The Refs did call SLU tight. The lopsided score amplified the perception, I think. Sometimes, when one team gets a woodshed beating, the officials balance things by going out of their way not to whistle them. Obviously, that didn't happen.

But I think that Marsh would agree that SLU made their own breaks. The biggest screw job of the night was self-delivered.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Well, it's 10-1 Maine with about 3 minutes left in the third. I wish this was a misprint, but it is not. We are 1-1 on the PP, and Maine is 5-8. One thing hockey does is give us a dose of humility. :(

If we had to have a stinker, I'm just happy it occurred tonight and hopefully not next weekend.

GO SAINTS! Get ready for Clarkson.

Got a big kick out of one t-shirt I saw on the jumbotron at last night's game, obviously a SLU fan - it read "Cluck Farkson"

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

I saw the replay on the NHL Network and it was a beauty. Here's another little-known fact: in Rich's first season at SLU (2000-2001), he played in 29 games and had 2 goals and 4 assists (per info. from the Thrashers website). Look where he is now, an amazing feat.

And, he has 26 points in 23 games so far this year, since coming to ATL he has 61 points in 62 games. Granted, in Nashville he was a 3rd/4th line player, where as now he is 1st/2nd and getting PP time.

When he signed the deal, the analysts were saying they didn't expect him to keep up his 1 ppg clip through the year, but we're over a quarter of the way through the season and he is just over 1.00. Pretty awesome to see it.

And if you will remember he "struggled" adapting to playing both ends of the ice and in passing the puck. Who else remembers for a time when Joe put him back on Defense for quite a few games????

From what I have heard from the 'guys' who play with him in the summer, he has improved so much he is not even the same player he was at SLU. He was always a smart, skilled and fast player. Glad it is paying off for him and I miss his dad being around for the Saint games....his folks are a class act!

I wonder if the guys are done skating after that debacle on Saturday!;) This weekend is huge!

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Hey guys,
I got back from practice today and put a few things up on the blog, including all the injury updates I could get and what St. Lawrence is working on this week.
I will have a video report tomorrow evening from practice about the goalie rotation and where that stand, although Marsh didn't really want to talk to much about that. He said that even if he knew which goalie would start against Clarkson, he'd keep that to himself until gameday.
Alex Petizian is the subject of this week's "Get to Know a Saint." That, too, is on the blog. It's not so much silly as revealing, I think. He's a really nice guy and cares deeply about goaltending.

Take care. Pevs is tearing it up on the ice... and on here apparently, eh?

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Mike, you going to the Q/Yale game Friday? I'm highly contemplating it, as it should be a great one, but not sure yet.

Brandon

I am headed to Canton to stay with the Tupper Lake crew for the weekend so I won't be around.
With Q Pac ranked as high as they are if you are going to go I would make sure you have a ticket in advance. My guess is it will sell out and be standing room only, if it isn't sold out already.

Ah, sounds like fun. I've got 2 rifle matches around NYC this weekend or I would be considering heading north too.

I checked Yale's site yesterday and they seemed to have some good seats still. I'll probably decide for sure tomorrow. Enjoy the games up north, hopefully you see some good ones.

That was a great chat with Alex. Got a big kick out of him saying that his Mom walks around Appleton when he plays. I remember Jeremy Symington's Dad telling me in 2001 that he did the same, particularly if his son was having a tough night. Can't imagine being the parent of any hockey player, let alone a goalie. My Dad one time remarked after he saw me play locally in a pickup game that he was pooping bricks and couldn't believe I came out of it alive....those were the days and I have two surgically repaired shoulders now to prove that a few stops were made. I'm sure that the padding for that area of the body is much improved for goalies nowadays.

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Well, I attempted my first video package in over two years today. I haven't done one since college. It's up on the blog with some added information from the practice notes I had up yesterday. I'm sure Bob McKenzie will laugh at its amateurism.... that or I'll be working for TSN next year.

Nice job, Dan! If we're lucky, TSN won't grab you before the end of this season ;) .

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

To any of you travelling up north (I know Mike is), safe trip and have a blast.

I'll probably pay for these two games on b2 individually, might just listen to the internet broadcast though.

I have to go to a HS basketball game tonight, but I'll be watching on B2 tomorrow. Mike, and all the TL crew, hope you have a ball.

Let's Go Saints!!!!!

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Got that right!! Any guesses what it really means??:D;) :p
Uh, No??? :D

Ah, the weekend where CCT and SLU fans bury the hatchet (where, we're not saying) and root against their NC rivals. Every other weekend, I'm pulling for you. Not this one.

Remember, the Clarkson chat room is open this evening. We do allow Saint fans in there.

Hi Joe,

First of all, congratulations to your son James for his stellar goaltending that helped Salem State beat then #1 St. Norbert out there recently. I know that we discussed a few years back about James' interest in going to SLU. Had that happened, I'm left to wonder how you'd be rooting tonight and tomorrow if James was tending goal for the Saints. Perhaps you'd root for 0-0 OT ties both nights with James kicking out 50+ shots each night?

I may join the CR tonight, but if SLU is on its way to another 9-goal loss will be exiting quickly. My best guess is that the home team wins each night.

GO SAINTS!

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Just got done putting Misko and McBride into their respective AHL teams on NHL '10 for Xbox 360. Misko's slapshot accuracy is a 60... they're being awfully generous;)

Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season

Can't wait to read Got 6's rants on the refereeing. I have to agree :) . Brutal.
