Sue did well holding the Gophers to only 2 goals tonight. It's a moral victory for them and maybe something to build on.

Nice game Sue. Tough team. If you learned to score you'd be scary. 4-2 good guys tomorrow night.

Gophs played like crap...SUE are a bad team. Gophs should whoop on them tomorrow.

Nice win for Minnesota. Patterson played well, and came up big when he needed to. Dell was great. This game could very well have been about 6-0, but Dell made some impressive saves. North Dakota has a lot of problems, and I'm a little worried that we still look like we're playing the first game of the year. There hasn't been the improvement that I was looking for at this point in the season. Grimaldi being out hurt a lot as I think he helps generate a lot of offense. Minnesota is a good team, but North Dakota played horrible tonight. At this point we're not good, and that is frustrating.

Is Ambroz eligible to play tomorrow night after getting tossed? I would not be surprised if Lucia sat him. He put the gophs in a tough spot there. Ambroz has got to get it going.

I don't want to start a flame fest...that really isn't my intent.
From where I was sitting, I couldn't exactly see the follow through. So I don't know where the hit landed. I will say I was surprised and a bit...umm...agitated with the 5 min call. I'm not saying it wasn't warranted....but I'm asking what others thought (if anyone has video of it that would be fantasic...and I promise not to say a word about it either way upon viewing said video:)) I'm just curious if Lucia really would have reason to sit him for it. If it was borderline, no way will he be sat. If it was horribly egregious, then I could see it. All three of the 4th line guys tonight showed they can play on the 3rd line without sacrificing much if anything; so it wouldn't be a bad place to send a message by the coaching staff.

At any rate, that kill was HUGE. Rau set the tone for that 5 minutes right away. That kid really is something special. He looks like a 23yo senior out there, not an 18yo freshman.

For contact to the head? 5.

It was first called (by the announcers) as a CFB. He didn't hit the boards, so I was wary about the 5+game, but I will say it was a legit 5.

And dx, I THOUGHT that was you!

Yeah, I knew he didn't hit the boards and I knew it wasn't from behind. It looked like a legit hit from where I was, but again, I couldn't really see where it landed on the Sue kid.

Wow the Sue are terrible, they are lucky it was only 2-0 it should have been about 5 or 6-0. The refs gave them weak sauce penalties all night and missed some real gems by the goons.

Lamoureux, what an ugly son of biach he is and a P**sy, go to the box like a good little goon and S-TFU. How pathetic. Rocco?? where were you? Oh that's right, too much for the preacher boy to handle and it would be sin for him to see girls dressed in anything but a full burka.

Gophers should sweep easily tomorrow.

Maybe I'm blind, but I thought that while the Gophers didn't play their best the Sioux were often 1 click off from being in very good scoring position. Whether or not they can overcome that anytime soon I don't know but I don't think they are terrible by any stretch. I expect MN to play better tomorrow and finish them, but I don't expect a UND squad that typically plays with pride to lay down and give up. MN will need to play another smart and level-headed game and if they do their talent should come through.

The refs were consistently inconsistent both ways tonight. I thought there were some weak calls against both teams, and both teams got away with some stuff that really should have been called. The one that go me was the weak CFB call with 6 minutes to go, and then the clear trip on Budish as he was curling into an open slot in the offensive zone with about 2:30 to go that didn't get called. That combination really gave UND a chance to get back into the game. But meh...they couldn't get it done. Bottom line is the refs allowed plenty of opportunity for Sue to cash in, and Sue failed every time. MN did only slightly better with the opportunity given to them by the refs, but that's all it took. Refs didn't decide the outcome tonight.

The Ambroz hit was clearly from behind and high. The hit and the ensuing 5 min penalty were both no-brainers. The only not-bad thing about it was that the player wasn't sent into the boards.
