You are right, they spend more time setting up and passing. I was hoping that last season's PP had graduated with the seniors, but apparently the PP continues to have failing grades. But I don't want to take away anything from St. A's, they played a very good game and didn't run out of gas against the Cadets. Their goalie was outstanding and their forecheck really challenged the Cadets for the first time this season. McShane has got to do something new with power play.

I know it wasn't a PP - but that's the way they need to play on the PP. They just toss the puck around and expect the defense is going to move the wrong way. St. A's played well. I hope we are dealing with the issues of youth and inexperience. Seems like there were a lot of mistakes by the D. I won't name names, but there were a lot of guys who just got out of position.

Yes the team played well overall
Out of possition at times
ST A's had a plan and worked it well
Goal Tender was Hot
This year will be interesting
Looking forward to NEC

Here is the "disallowed goal" from the third period of the Elmira v Nazareth game. The score was tied at 2-2 at the time. Official stated he was in the process of blowing the play dead when the puck ended up in the net. So No Goal.

About 8 minutes later with the score still knotted at 2 all, Michael Collins banged the puck in for the gwg with .07 secs left on the clock. Nazareth coach was fuming after an interference penalty was called with 2:00 left in the game. So this was a power play goal.

The "intent to blow the whistle" thing came up in an NHL game over the Weekend - Avs vs. Kings. Puck goes in for LA ref said "I started to blow the whistle, doesn't matter when the sound came out" (maybe that was Peter McNab interpreting for the ref for all I know) Toronto never got involved in reviewing it. Avs win in OT 1-0 eventually.

If he was in fact intending to blow the whistle, why didn't he motion the "No Goal" signal immediately? They waited for several minutes before making the actual ruling.

Good point. I wondered the same thing. I noticed at the time, he didn't signal goal or wash it out. I think he was in a bit of a panic, no-man's land. He made neither call. But it did give him time to discuss with his team and sort it out. I think he made the right call ultimately.

If it's Salem, it's OT. Only this time SSU loses (again!) to USM in OT. I felt like I was seeing a replay from a few years ago.

Ex ECAC-W team Niagara visits Cornell tonight. Crazy Game: 2 count 'em 2 diving calls, a playing with a broken stick call, and a Frosh tender making his first start ever, scores an empty netter.

I know the D1 apologists would disagree, but Niagara ~might~ be a top 15 team in D3 this year.
