Well...I for one am not going to waste...I mean spend time Googling "Shannon Miller" if that's what is being suggested.

No, what was being suggested was pity for pokey who was having a problem starting a unrination fest be denigrating someone who simply googled a topic. Now I am put out because I have been forced to twice comment on poor pokey.

I was referring to what I interpreted Blackbeard to be suggesting. Seemingly that we should all be as obsessed with the Shannon Miller saga, as he / she is...and spend time searching for Shannon Miller stories.

No, that's not what I was suggesting. In fact I wasn't suggesting for anyone to do anything. Don't know how you arrived at that conclusion. I thought it was clear enough...I was responding to Choker's innuendo with respect to the publication from which the article that I posted originated.

And to clear up your misunderstanding, the "obsession", as you call it, is simply an interest in the legal matter with which she has challenged UMD...and which I would remind you has potential ramifications for everybody's favourite team who frequents this site...including yours. That's what I "Googled" to see if there were any updates and I posted the only one that appeared to exist as well as a related article.

no, I just don't Google that type of stuff

the author obviously, while all the other boys were out playing baseball or hockey was in the closet prancing around in his mothers high heels and nylons wearing his sisters training bra

which is to say he knows nothing of sports, and seemingly little of the workplace either

I'm not sure what this has to do with hockey, Miller became irrelevant when she lead her team to defeat in the WCHA tournament against Bemidji

but thanks for the reminder how weird some of these people are

They must be hoping for a settlement, what jury is going to go with discrimination when they replaced one woman with another woman, and saved the taxpayers a bunch of money.

In addition, the new coach is openly married to another woman, which makes the sexual orientation argument a little more difficult to prove.

act so everybody hates you, then sue because of the hostile work environment you created, hats off to her if she can convince the jury

but it seems to me she is the discriminatory one, that cannot work with someone unless they are LGBT or otherwise confused about gender

I have used two different methods to determine the mathematical odds of an all LGBT staff, assuming 5 people, and it should occur every 12,000+ years at ANY D1 school that has hockey, assuming 6 people it would be a once every 160,000 years, using another more complex method makes it even more of a long shot
at any one school, simply multiply by the number of D1 schools, at UMD alone, the odds are literally one in a million

A little more difficult???????????HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....this is so rich, you just can't make this stuff up! How is F bomb Miller gonna deal with that? She is so cooked. Oh this is so funny. What a GREAT move by UMD there, hiring another coach with the same orientation as her, that is checkmate. That's probably why she had to bundle her lawsuit with the other 2. Hollywood can't do any better than this. Wow.

Has anyone else sifted through the official document submitted to the court? Most of the claims made are downright silly. The section about the former basketball coach made me laugh the hardest. She claims Josh Berlo made her gain 80 pounds and make several trips to the emergency room. They left out the part about how she outweighed most healthy, male black bears when she arrived at UMD in 2008.

Apparently morbidly obese individuals represent another protected class...

Fascinating read. It basically boils down to she was supposedly fired for being gay and Canadian, but the biggest issue in the doc was that she was gay. The fact that they hired another gay person does indeed shoot her down. They attempt to make the case that the straight men's coaches are over paid compared to their accomplishments, but it's comparing apples and tyres. Interestingly, @ paragraph 48 she complained about being repeatedly harassed, (which is not acceptable), but she insisted no formal investigation take place, yet it did, which made her unhappy. Why complain about it if you don't want the offending parties identified and punished? What was the athletic dept to do? What did she want them to do? That makes no sense. Is this going before a jury or just a judge?

I think she would have been better off just taking the angle that the atmosphere in the athletic dept was anti-gay, that she did not get the proper support, and left the non-renewal and the Canadian angle out of it entirely. I can see that case being true to the facts and therefore winnable.
