Eh, what the heck - pile on an extra post. Anybody have some tips on attending the Cortland game (tickets, Laker fan seating, % chances of home goon encounters, etc)?

Cortland? Get there whenever you want, sit where ever you want, 0% chance of home goon encounters. I like standing on the rail right above the visiting bench. Cortland doesn't pack them in at all. There will be more Oswego fans than "Cortland fans".

Ode de Fortuna...sounds great everytime. Nice sir!:)

BTW - I'd like to take you up on your message on YouTube. I've got another piece for the playoffs in the works, and the calls are excellent! That ok?

Absolutely, use anything you'd like. I have more if you need it too.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

Got to say, the one penalty to Bremner wasn't his fault. Leis played the puck and pushed off the boards to get back to the net as Dan came around the net....Couldn't avoid him. Then Kelly hit Leis and knocked him down. Bremner got the whistle. His first penalty although a penalty wasn't called till the crowd went off on the ref. I looked at both refs right after it happened. Neither one had an arm up. Then, as the play moved up the boards. The whistle blew. Hussle forechecking isn't a bad thing. And he got an ear full from Coach when he came to the bench after the second penalty. He still played better than alot of the team (both ends) the rest of the game. Even the Plattsburgh fans I was with said they'd take him in a second. Works his *** off. The line of Kelly Bremner and Singleton were great. Laginear has his swagger back after lighting the lamp Friday, he appears to like his newer linemates. Fox isn't pressing he doesn't have Selleck taking away defenders. He has to just keep working, he's fine, goals will come. Just my little take.......

I guess you were at the game?? well thats why i started my post with " from what you can see from the webcast"....BUt bottom line...you cannot take offensive zone penalties, and platts has been 5 for 13 on the PP vs Oz plus another scored on a delayed panalty this yr, it will bite you in or on the *** in the end, no pun intended LOL.....dont get me wrong love bremner kelly and singleslim, they rock and the team should feed of'em but as stated no good on the offensive zones penalties, total no no as i am sure coach g told'em...ok horse beaten........ did ya have a good look at the no-goal?? and Murphy was refing, and as Loudhorns know, I can yell at him 4ever

I haven't been to Cortland in quite some time for a game. How are the PB's? :)

Except for either A) The young women who work for the facilities/athletic department B) Players own personal PBs, they're relatively non-existent. It's a shame because Cortland has great potential.

Very true. For anyone making a trip to Cortland, HIGHLY recommend checking out the old A&W restaurant. I can't believe it's been 5 or 6 years since I've visited the place. Foot long hot dogs and root beer floats? score.

Good job on the call of the goals and thanks for the highlight video.

Also for anyone who likes to look at what might be happening in the future, it appears as if current OJHL scoring leader Phil Brewer will be a Laker next season according to this article. I know these things aren't set in stone so take it with a grain of salt.

points look good, and his size nice as well, lets hope he comes to the Campus Center WHEN we play in the SUNYAC Championship, that outa get to come ;-))

*pokes in head*

'ellooo? I've heard a rumor that some site maintenance silenced a little of the conversation on here this evening.

It seems like the most logical situation - any and all Lakers fans have GOT to be commenting on that game. I'm never a fan of "play like crap for 55, then play like champs for 10 to win", but this was a thrilling evening spent at Cortland with a fiercely loyal (and overbearing) OSU fan group. We were rewarded with some incredible late action. Way to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat!

Lets hope our guys hit the road out west one last time in March, cause they're done for now. Heave away to Oswego!

The main site server crashed. They're using a backup that only backlogged stuff until early this morning. There was plenty of comments in the scores thread. Most of which were individuals listening saying how it seemed the Lakers were dominating play, but couldn't bury the puck. Good to see them win, but they'll have to get their head out of their asses because versus a better team, they won't be able to come back.

Gotcha. It seemed unnaturally quiet...

I spoke to Coach briefly before the game, and he did mention a worry that the team was a tad giddy on the kool-aid, what with sweeping the North Country. Although the Lakers controlled play, they wasted way too much time getting setting up for the perfect sequence. An excellent squad doesn't get into the situation of tonight, but a halfway decent team can pull itself out of a hole, if given the chance. Hopefully this is the end of the mucking about - put the pedal to the medal.

Boots, Moody, and Carr all disappointed me tonight, all with the lack of execution around the goal (less finese, more throwing it on net would be prefered), and general disposition...particularly in the case of one Ayotte. Whitelaw and Rodrigues pulled their weight, as did HVB (literally, at times). Beckwith...I wouldn't fault him for the goals scored against him - his defence was crummy. He certainly stood tall late to keep the game under control.

Idk, I think not enough credit is being given to Cortland, this is a team that shut out plattsburgh last week, once I can call a fluke, but going to OT it with oz and shutting out platty a week apart, I gotta give props to Cortland, they seem to be on the ball late in the season. Plattsburgh is a tough team, About as tough as they come, to shut them out and go to OT with oz, they might surprise people. I didn't listen to the game but I'm definitely surprised looking at the score, I thought it would be a cake walk for oz.

During the Buff State game, this same thing happened; they attempted to get too fine with the passes. I'm really not a fan of Carr at all, he makes lazy passes and doesn't really cover up well for the other defenseman. I think the best thing about the team is that they've shown they can come back from a deficit. It seems like there is a switch where they finally just "get it". I think that some of the older players allow themselves to get complacent with their games, while others that are fighting to stay in the lineup really bust their butts out there.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

It was a very strange game. Cortland made some good decisions with the puck in their own end once they had it and Kuhlman had a ton of look what I found saves which kept them in it for a while. Oswego got discouraged with not being able to put the puck in the net and it took an unreal rush by Rodrigues to get them back in it after going down 3-1. Once Moodie scored to get them to within one it was like a totally different team and they almost one the thing in regulation. The winner was a thing of beauty by Rodrigues, Fox and Moodie, a line that I thought was the worst line on the ice for 55 minutes of the game.

I know some will go on the defensive but I wouldn't have started Beckwith. He looked totally disinterested during the warmups and early on in the game he flubbed a few easy ones and didn't shake it off like he normally does. The three goals were certainly defensive breakdowns but he could have stopped all three if he was on, which he clearly was not. He has been a calming influence for the team since he returned but when the team sensed he was not totally with it they looked a little timid.

There needs to be a little more movement off the puck on the power play, the wingers just stand at each post and nothing really happens.

The defensive pair of Carr and Huinink is just plain bad, they are very lazy at times and they don't communicate well at all. VanBoxmeer is head and shoulders the best defenseman on the team and he and Anderson feed off of one another very well.

Whitelaw's goal was strange one as he bunted it out of the air. When he skated through the line after the goal he covered his face like a bowler that just went brooklyn, but they all count the same on the score sheet.

Kelly and Bremner were their usual selves and Kelly almost had the winner but lofted it a little hight.

The BMW line created a lot of chances for two and a half periods but then got frustrated with only getting the one flukie goal. They were mind numbingly lazy on their only shift in OT and almost allowed Cortland to win the game.

The team also spent 55 minutes passing it into each others skates and when they finally started to hit guys in stride Cortland could not keep up with their speed and all of Oswego's OT chances including the winner were odd man rushes.

Once again these guys got backed into a corner and found a way to win, Cortland is not the best team ever but a hot goalie and some puck luck can go a long way some times. Some people were saying one of these days they won't get away with that but that prediciton is like saying the sun will come up tomorrow. You have to remeber they were blowing out teams last year going into Placid and we know how that one went. Every team, every where will lose eventually, you just have to hope that it doesn't happen in a must win game.

Listening to the excellent radio call by WNYO, it sounded like a classic case of late season overconfidence meets red-hot goaltending... One is in your control, the other you have to solve on the fly. hard to say they were working for the perfect play with all the shots they were putting up, but perhaps the sense of urgency and the will to win that emerged in the last 10 minutes of play starting with the last couple in regulation is where this team needs to be all the time. I saw that will to win for three periods in Platty - when you get to tournament time, that is what it will take to advance.
