That's obviously a Plattsburgh operated webcast, which I know doesn't make a difference to most people; but as always of course WNYO will have Oswego coverage.

Well then I would venture to the Ground Round, Applebees or 99 Restaurant. All within 1/4 mile of each other.
Is there no respectable (or dive) hockey bar in Platty? No Greene's wannabes? Buckland's reincarnated? Woodshed revisited?:(:confused:

no not really.... there is a "dive" diner that has some limited hours called Dukes Diner that has pretty good food and the owner is a loyal Cardinal hockey fan.... a lot of the players go there for meals.... hockey stuff all over the walls..... no real bars in town like Greene's unfortionately.

Back in the "Bad Boys Days" (mid 80s) the hockey hangout was the 4th Ward Bar. Haven't heard much about it in recent years.

Must still be there. It was a small place. Used to have a pool table and a couple of dart boards in a back room. Served something called a "Hector-Ade" which was some sort of lemon/lime ade and vodka. And they had a big glass jar of pickled eggs behind the bar. Brings back great memories. Although I'm not sure it would be wise to venture in the w/ a Non-Cardinal jersey or hat!

Packing up for a Scout outing this weekend, so this is my last say until Sunday. For the Lakers, it is "take what you can, and give nothing back" - especially confidence for the Cardinals.

To the road warriors heading north - make OSU proud.

:DLET'S - GO - LA-KERS!:D

Headed to Potsdam now, have a friend who goes there, he's been bugging me to come visit him, I figured what's better weekend to come visit then the Potts/platty weekend. I'm pumped for tomorrow.

Guess this becomes a thread bump (it must be quiet from all the partying). Congratulations to the Lakers on pulling out the 4 in the North Country leg! I would be delighted to hear a few accounts on how the celebrations went - I've developed a curse with watching the Lakers always lose in the Adirondack region when I'm there, so a camp-out seemed like a reasonable choice for the weekend.

There is deep respect to the Cardinals for plotting out another dangerous nail biter. I'll venture a guess that stupid penalties nearly did in OSU again, but Beckwith stood his ground. It was a bitter pill to swallow, seeing another Whiteout fail back in '09 - the simple fact is that one of these titans has to win, there's ALWAYS going to be lousy calls, and you can only look forward to the next match. So again, another fine tilt for both sides, and March isn't too far away.

And kudos to Cortland too!

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

Part of me wishes they would stop playing Plattsburgh so close because it is dangerous to my health. But as a hockey fan you can't ask for much more than these two teams give you almost every time they play.

Beckwith made some outstanding saves to keep Oswego in it, he is having trouble with his rebound control on right pad saves but the defense needs to do a better job of tying up the forward on plays like the ones that led to Platty's first two goals. Paulie means a lot to this team in terms of confidence for the offense. In the six games he missed the team won four and scored 16 goals with six of them against a very porous Point team. in the four games since he returned they are 4-0 and have scored 21 goals against some pretty solid competition.

It looks like Laganiere might finally be coming alive for the stretch run which is only a plus for Oswego. That was a beautiful snipe he made for Oswego's first goal.

Fox on the other hand just continues to struggle and he looks like he is trying to do it all by himself every shift and when they are hitting him for open shots they aren't getting on the net. He makes one or two good plays a game which has been his saving grace.

Bremner has become one of my favorite players this year but he has to tone it down a little with his aggressiveness as some ill timed penalties have hurt the team a bit this year.

Andrew Mather is quietly moving up the scoring charts and if he could start pocketing a few of his open chances in front, he would be a star on this team.

Once again the Lakers found themselves in a situation where the next goal was important and they went out and got it, twice. They have done that so many times in the last few seasons where it seems like in years past they didn't do it very often.

Now all they have to do is win one of their last four games to clinch the SUNYAC title but I don't want to see a situation like last year where they clinch and then take the final weekend off, I want to see them keep the throttle down all the way to the end.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

from what you can see on the webcast, they lakers looked VERY aggressive and it got them a few dumb penalties, I would have had Bremner sit for awhile after his 2 penalties, watch and cool alittle, a few other dumb penalties as well, taking penalties is Ok but when you need to take them, not in your offensive zone.......FYI all of platts goals were on the PP, perhaps because Bremner was in the box for the 1st 2?????.....beckwith looked solid and yes must control rebounds as stated b4........another thing ive noticed all season is they try and make the perfect pass 2 many times, when they shot the puck at the net they score, either staight in or on rebounds, both on and off the PP, SHOOT THE PUCK.......Fox is pressing, but he WILL come up big when needed ...Singleton and Kelly are great they never stop and the team feeds off it, the D played well and kept shots to the outside..when and if we meet the birds again lets stay out of the box as we saw yesterday not a good thing, we win even up for sure.....great game and better weekend.......ps cortland took 2 in the northcountry WOW
