Everyone plays ya a little harder with that title. Enjoy it :)

Funny you should say that, as we've no sooner seen the #1 this time that the Lakers are going right back to Geneseo  :D.

Only that this time around, revenge would be quite sweet:cool:.

That's what I said? ;)

"Everyone plays ya a little harder with that title."

I'd rather see them at number 2 still...not that I mind...but the idea of being "that good" but still 'under the radar' of teams with eyes wide open at the number one team not being you is always better I think then being that one.

That being said...lets push this to get all the votes at least once this year! :D

Number 1 is number 1. Teams will be gunning for them. But probably no more than at any time. Teams in the conference know that the SUNYAC title passes through Lake Ontario and the Great North Woods. Teams always have gotten up for Oswego and Plattsburgh with limited success. Looking at the schedule, it looks like there are few roadblocks, even out of conference. However, as we know, a big one is this weekend with Geneseo away.

Last years loss was not a good loss either. They might have been looking ahead though, week before play-offs, last regular season game, whatever......Focus should not be a problem this year. They don't look like the best team ever....But the record say's they're pretty **** good. One game at a time is only way to look at it. Give'm hell boy's

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

Last years loss at Geneseo meant nothing. Last game, nothing to play for, meaningless loss for Oswego. Geneseo had been banned and this was their post season. This year, should be a real classic, both teams ranked and playing well - can't wait for it!

Looking at the Brockport and Geneseo websites, it doesn't look like much more than live stats (Geneseo) is available - it will be on the broad shoulders of the WNYO crew to deliver the goods...:D:D:D

At least there is only one rink to show up at in Geneseo unlike Elmira ;)

WNYO crew showed up at the First Arena only to find an empty barn last year.

Its a shame they don't play there, IMO

I've been back and forth on this issue. At first I wanted them to go to the First Arena, then I said nah we're fine here at the Domes.

Now...

I think I'm on board that its time to make the jump. The Domes are home sure...But no one comes to the games anymore. The First Arena is a state of the art facility and even though Elmira will play second fiddle to the Jackals, they'll still be on par with any other team in the country rink-wise and the arena will be much closer to downtown and the campus allowing for a better student turnout.

The Domes are outdated and although there is a lot of history there, the big one was never won there. Will moving to the First Arena help? Maybe...Maybe not. I don't see how it would hurt the team though.

Anyone else with thoughts?

A bunch of questions come to mind:

-Does the College have the money to commit to that kind of a move?

-Would the First Arena and the Elmira Jackals be willing to work with the college to create a nice schedule with a little bit of give and take between the teams?

-Elmira College has put some money into the Domes recently, are they willing to move their games away from the new locker rooms they've built and training equipment they've put there?

-How would Alumni view this move? Oswego's move to the CC had mixed opinions initially, but I think most if not all Alumna are ecstatic about the move now.

-Would the students actually attend? I think they would, but still not enough of them to have a vibrant student section.

Personally, I think the move should be made. Look how a new arena has aided Oswego's recruiting and national recognition. Perhaps the same could happen for Elmira.

Better student attendance with a 10 min walk replacing a 20 minute drive...good for downtown business before AND after games...more modern facility...seems like a no brainer to me, but I didn't go there, I just sent my kid there and wrote checks....

Perhaps we should move this to the Elmira thread...?:D:D:D

I'm going to try and be at both games this weekend (living in the Rochester area, this is basically my series). Depends on what time I get out of work if I make it to Brockport on time or not. Will deffinately be in Geneseo for the game against the Ice Knights Saturday.

And seriously? Geneseo ranked #10, Buff St. ranked #15, and Platty and Middlebury unranked? Has hell frozen over? Next we'll see the Ponies ranked too.
