The parents and family are in Fort Wayne Indiana for some indoor racing and decided to take in a Fort Wayne Komet vs Mississippi CHL game. Just got a text that Neil just scored and now is in the box for the Komets. Should have some pictures later tonight. They said they havnt seen Boyd out for Mississippi yet.

A double treat for them, getting to see Neil Musselwhite play hockey then getting to see "KO" Kevin Olsen run a midget indoors in the same weekend. Everyone here knows how entertaining Neil is playing hockey and I will say it is just as entertaining to watch Kevin Olsen race a midget, especially if he puts on the open face helmet, bandana, and T-shirt.

They were saying how Neil was probably the most standout player out there. Not sure they will be able to watch another game while they are out there.

Olsen is pretty good, but not sure anyone will be Stewart again this year. We havnt taken the munchkin out but just the once at Perry Speedway, but having Tony Stewart in your pits to help set up a car is very helpful :)

WNYO will have coverage of all Pathfinder games. They will be RADIO ONLY. Rob Lippolis will be handling PBP duties with myself on vacation until the 21st when SUNYAC Play resumes.

There's a link to the live stream in my sig.

Mike, you have seen what happens when you don't call a game! I hope that Rob's streak ends tonight! Maybe he needs to do something to rid the curse.

haha, I can't take credit for that. Rob called the Pathfinder last season too, and that went well.

Although we do not condone "harassment" :), we are using "WNYOHockeyTalk" for our hockey broadcasts. The producer(s) can be reached through that screen name.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

Well, basically this game was a carbon copy of the previous couple of games for Oswego. They just simply are not competing and they are not playing smart hockey. Hare was not great but he made a few big saves that kept the team in it for a while before giving up in the third. The turning point was Hall's goal being disallowed and Hamilton going down and making it 2-0 as the Lakers were celebrating. I don't know where the heart of this team went but I guess it must be in Pensacola, Florida, Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Rochester, New York. The resolve and will to win games that they had last year and for the first part of this year is gone, they pretty much quit playing after it went to 3-0, not something they would have done a year ago.

Tomorrow needs to be a win and a convincing one at that, Point did not look that good to me at all and looked gassed at the end of all three periods. If they let this thing snowball it will be tough for them to defend the SUNYAC title and make another run at the National Title.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

Is it a coincidence that they are playing like this since Beckwith's injury or have they been playing like crap and Beckwith has been keeping them close enough to win?

I posed this question on another thread, anyone care to discuss?

Beckwith has saved their skins a bunch of times this season. They easily could have lost both Elmira games, the Plattsburgh game, the Buffalo State game, the Morrisville game, at Utica and the Geneseo game if he didn't make some very timely saves.

They really haven't outplayed, and I mean really just totally dominated and shutdown anyone this year. If they don't start making plays (short 3 to 5 foot passes) and stop passing up and fanning on shots in the slot then they are going to struggle to win even with Paul back in the net.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

I realize I posted this in the Tourney scores thread but figured I would attach it here as well. In addition to these comments I got thinking on the ride home, is it me or does a true leader seem to be missing on the ice? Someone needed to rally the troops after going down 2-0 after Hall's disallowed goal. Lastly the guys had no legs and looked gassed by the end after a long time off. I don't get how they could be tired. This game was a carbon copy as Lakers28 so aptly pointed out of the Hobart game.

Two words to describe the performance tonight- undisciplined and listless. It goes without saying that in the third Hare was very disappointing and a couple of guys on our team need to grow up and skate when things are not going their way. Justin Fox was one of these players who did have a beef with who else but Murphy who didn't call a hands to the face on Hamilton. Fox proceeded to argue with Murphy and gave the Continentals a man advantage because of this and they scored off of it. Oswego played right into Hamilton's hands and that's what they needed to happen in order to beat the Lakers in the CCIA. I also don't understand the change in the lines when things seemed to be clicking on the 3rd and 4th lines. I would say after this game that Jones will be in net tomorrow with the possibility of Hare coming into relieve. But, I would think things would have to get as ugly as tonight in order for Gosek to pull Jones. This loss stings extremely bad but pick your heads up boys and don't dwell on this. We can start a new streak tomorrow.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

Not the end of the world but very disappointing. Hare faded badly, defense made the usual mistakes, turning puck over and not getting it out of their own zone and offense looked disorganized. This isn't last years team in that you kept waiting for some leadership, someone to step up and it's not there yet. The fact is that his injury makes it plain that Beckwith is that leader this year. He has stepped up and made the big plays when needed and the rest of the team has fed off of that and until he gets back it will be a stuggle. Thank heavens they don't have any SUNYAC games until late January.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

This loss could really come back to haunt the Lakers if they don't get the automatic bid by winning the SUNYAC Tournament. Traditionally Hamilton is in the middle of the pack in NESCAC. I also didn't understand the major line changes. That was the part of the team that didn't appear to be broken. I understood the Hobart loss, but last night it was almost like no one knew where their line mates were going to be. Penalties are one thing that has traditionally haunted Oswego. It just isn't this team as it has sort of been a history. Turning point last night the no goal and quick score at the other end. Hey it's a two game losing streak. Could be worse.
