SCSU vs. Bye Jan. 11 & 12

Re: SCSU vs. Bye Jan. 11 & 12

I'm very confident that I've seen far more Gopher and St. Cloud games combined this year than you have.

What in the HELL makes you think that is true? One, you don't know how much Tommy watches hockey. Two, you go say stupid things like this:

Not only that, but when you hold Notre Dame and Boston College to only 2 goals total, that's a little more impressive than giving up 8 to Northern Michigan.

Its comments like this that make myself and others think you're talking out of your ***. (PSST.... even if you didn't see either SCSU game vs. Northern Michigan, and clearly you didn't, bc if you'd seen Friday's you'd know Faragher didn't play [or you did and REALLY don't know anything] and if you'd seen Saturday's you'd probably have heard mention of the fact that Faragher didn't play the night before, even if you don't see the games, you can look up information like that in a BOX SCORE.

Greater size helps in shutting down passing lanes on the PK, and requiring opponents to take more steps in getting around you during a rush. The taller the man is, the longer the arms are, the longer the stick is, the greater the disruption.

Well then good thing our midget team is good at killing penalties. :D

B-b-but, I was always told that size doesn't matter.

It does, but in your case it doesn't, cause you have a good personality. 75% of the people that have posted in this thread are the reason Tyler Hirsch went Tyler Hirsch.

This thread is another reminder why it is good to not be a SCCC fan :D

Right... its so much better to be a tUMD fan. 8 out of 10 years they've given up on their team by January.

Well i just hope that SCSU can take advantage of this bye week to get back in to the flow of things so they can finish off the season strong!

Last I checked this is hockey not basketball. The puck is in the ice/ground. I would take Gaudreau over any tall Gopher player. I would take Gretzky over Lemieux.

Both Murray and Milan blew by Sustr like he wasn't there. From some of the extensions I have seen on some of these sticks they might as well be playing Lacrosse. Kossila has some of the most active sticks on the team on the PK. Jensen uses body position/shoulders and his hands to shield and seal off, he also uses body lean and his legs, you very rarely see someone use their reach on him. Roe, Lasch and Rau gobble up juicy rebounds like no tomorrow. It's basically a wash when you remove the physicality aspect.

SCSUEuro...you're right I made a mistake by saying that Faragher played on Friday against NMU. I didn't go to the game on Friday and didn't go on Saturday either because of the Vikings game.

How do you know how much hockey I've watched? I guess we'll just have to speculate on each other's viewing habits. Between all the posters on this website SCSUTommy has offered the least amount of logical argument for his original statement, so I guess I just assume he hasn't seen a lot of hockey.

You wouldn't happen to be SaintCloudGopher after changing your name and then just choosing to come back into St. Cloud threads and troll again?

That's a good question. Probably something St. Cloud fans know a lot about. Say...what's UMD's national championship count compared to SCSU's?

NCAA Titles aside, we are WAY more successful in the last decade than fUMD.

Which doesn't matter because our trophy case is empty. But boy our record is impressive!

You talking to me or Goldy? Who's stcloudgopher? And If you consider trolling debating the talent levels of two teams civily then I think you should probably relax your definition of the word. I find it an interesting discussion and obviously so do a lot of other people based on the number of posts here.

Honestly, I'm really not here to pick fights with anyone. If someone quips at me, sure I'll give it back. While I'm not a fan of Saint Cloud State, I still take an interest in the team and enjoy discussing some of their strengths/weaknesses with their educated fanbase. I live in the area and I take in a lot of games with my friends who ARE SCSU fans. If you want to crucify me for posting on your forums and debating our two teams, go for it.

Because a player's height only matters when pumpkin pushing? Would Chara be as respected as he is if he had the same level of talent he has now, but was a 6" - 10" shorter?

Yes, Kossila, Jensen, Roe, Lasch, and Rau are all good players. Especially the last three. I loved watching them play, very exciting stuff. Now make them all 6'2" or taller, hold their skill levels steady, and you'd have players with a lot of NHL talk. As it was, those three were talked about as being really good, but likely staying for three or four years because of their size. A taller person has the potential for a harder shot. When you have two people of the same strength, same skill level, one person is taller, holds a longer stick, that person has a greater potential for stick speed at the end of the point of contact with the ice, and that generates greater potential for puck speed. (Think golf clubs.) And as taller players they can impact the play farther away from their bodies. Why would you even dispute that greater height is an advantage? The bigger you are, the less raw talent you need to be effective.
