SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

Re: SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

In the immortal words of Charlie Brown: Good grief. I can't stand it! *sigh*

Each time I sign on to this thread, I am hoping for some insight into the team or anything other than nonsense regarding Marvin, alas I am always let down...

You're an SCSU fan, you should be used to being let down by now.

I'm not interested in starring in your p0rn fantasy, so please stop picturing me in a Girl Scout uniform.

To be fair, you're 3 foot 10, we can't picture you in grown-up clothes.

It's always MARVIN, MARVIN MARVIN!

(in Jan Brady voice)

Sorry, couldn't resist. :D

Read the story then, maybe you'll learn something about a player in our league that is a class act. You obviously enjoy focusing your time on the other end of the spectrum. Or else find another topic to spew your "explosive anger."

Well, that just makes it sadder that his father is far from a class act, doesn't it?

So what did his dad do? Was Baby blue, I mean not sober hockey guy yelling at him and calling him names like he was to Kronick's family?:D

No, believe it or not , he was yelling at Weslosky and then Mr. Raboin brought a cop up and asked the cop to kick them both out so they can fight. It was very strange. Then he came back this year and tried to fight Boody and Drilling.

Sounds like my kind of guy.

Lasch is only 6 points away from the all-time scoring record. I've only been watching the Huskies since '04, so I don't have a whole lot to choose from, but i'm curious to know where you old timers will rank rank him with the best players in SCSU history.

First off, Lasch could very possibly get the scoring record, but he is able to because guys like Hartigan, Saterdalen and Arnason didn't play 4 years.

I'm certainly not an old-timer, I've been following SCSU hockey for 9 seasons now, and so I never got to see a lot of the greats, my first year of watching was the first year after Arnason, but just in the years I've seen, I'd put Lasch behind Hartigan, and (big surprise here) Raboin as far as greatest Huskies. Honestly, for ovreall value, you could even make arguments for guys like Malone and Motzko. I can't put someone who only played 2 seasons in there, but otherwise Goepfert or maybe Nodl would rank ahead of Lasch, and if Andrew Gordon either had stayed one more or had had a much better freshman year, I'd have given him the nod over Lasch. And I think there's a good chance Roe ends up ahead of Lasch.

Lasch is a good player, I don't want to hate on him, but because he's such a one-dimensional player, I have a hard time mentioning him as one of the best Huskies I've ever seen.

My favorite will always be Mark Hartigan. #4 in all time points but only played 3 years, #1 overall in points per game, #3 in plus/minus, #2 in short handed goals.

Plus, unlike Lasch he was a capable of playing defense.

Re: SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

MOst skills: Tyler Arnason. Gets a hat trick at Final 5, shoots a puck through the net, MVP Final 5 Pretty much won the Final 5 championship for the team.

Matt Cullen
Mark Parrish

Many others

if Parrish had played more than 2 years he would probably be right at the top of the list along with Hartigan, Arnason, Lasch etc.

Saterdahlen(sp) played 4 years.:p

Lasch is a very good player and will be missed next year. It is hard to replace those type of points from our line up. He is one of the best consistant scorers in Husky history. I have been a Hsuky fan for 17 years and I wouldn't put him top five in Husky History, but he is top 10. You can make an arguement that even though he has no where near the talent Matt Cullen or Mark Parrish have he has made a far greater impact to this program than they did. I hope he gets the record, he deserves it.

One more thing. I know this year isn't his best year stat wise, but it is by far his best season. He has done a far better job Hustling back and being a more team guy on both ends of the ice. The one negative thing about him as you say is his one-dimensional play. If he was able to kill penalties and do other things like some of the other former big names did, he would be in that top 5 of all time.

Well we weren't talking about FAVORITE. Favorite is Hendricks, hands down.

Saterdahlen(sp) played 4 years.:p

Sorry, that was before my time and hockeydb.com only had 2 years of stats listed for him, so I assumed that was all he played at St. Cloud.

Re: SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

Ryan Lasch ranks right up there in the "Best Ever" category of Huskies in my opinion. He brings an entirely different dimension to hockey--small, slight and very skilled. He plays a different game than most gifted players.

Tommyboy states that this may not be the best statistical year for Lasch, but I agree it is his most impressive. He also brings a quiet leadership to this team and leads by example. The fact that he has never missed a game is totally amazing.

Best Huskies? Arnason, Hartigan, Cullen, Nodl and Hedican if going on pure talent.
Roe will (or is) in the same elite group.

IMO, guys like Motzko (Joe!), Malone, Hendricks, Raboin are very good, but do not--or did not--stand out among the elite of college hockey talent.

And best defenseman? Guy by the name of Lenny Esau. Tougher, bigger and meaner than Jeff Finger, better scorer and harder shot than any Huskie defenseman in past or recent memory. The guy was a player.
