The bottom line is bad things happen in a violent sport. He did everything right and then the guy turned in a mila second and he hit his head. UW fans are looking at this through tainted glasses because their player was hurt. By the rules that is a penalty. Should he be suspended for it? Not in my opinion. no where does it say if a hit like that happens he has to be suspended. Once the league said he should be suspended, I can see why he got three game because of the Genoway hit.
Question for people. Was the Jagr open ice hit in the olympics dirty? After seeing the Marvin footage what do you think the WCHA would say?
You guys like to keep dragging this on with claims that just aren't true. The only poster I have seen say it was a good hit is TB, maybe there's more but none that I can think of. He is also comparing it to the NHL, and I doubt you or anyone else will change his mind on how to label the hit. I think I've read about a dozen times that if "hits like that are going to result in suspensions it's bad for the league." TB, at least you're persistent even if the message is a little off.

Now that is a great response! I particularly agree with the bolded statement. As for the league suspending Marvin, I think they based that decision on both the Genoway and Geoffrion hit. If the Geoffrion hit were the lone incident Marvin had this season, nothing would've happened. But due to the outcry received after the weak punishment from the Genoway hit the league used this to put the hammer down.

As I pointed out in a previous post, the WCHA, which certainly had access to the best video available from the most number of angles, declared Knight's hit on Connolly "clean." I, on the other hand, who viewed the same crappy video everyone on the Internet had access to, said that a case could be made for a boarding penalty against Knight. But the WCHA didn't nail Knight for boarding during the game or after.
If you have a problem with that, I suggest that you take it up with Bruce McLeod and Greg Shepherd. Ask them to post the video which led them to determine that Knight had committed no penalty and that his hit was clean.
Please forgive me for linking to the exact same video that USCHO and other bloggers were linking to, especially when my blog was in direct response to USCHO's column. I agree that it makes absolutely no sense to provide a link to the very video that all those who proclaimed Knight guilty of an elbow to the head were using as proof of his dastardly act. Since it was Ovechkin, nothing. Had Marvin done it, he'd have been forced to commit seppuku and Gigi would have to give her medal back.
