SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Don't you have to sell out before you expand?

My thoughts exactly, but my guess is it's just more of an idea at this point. It's part of a "comprehensive plan" for campus. Actually, it says within the next 6-10 years.

...and is less than half of what a little D3 school 15 miles up the road draws....

The sad thing is, since we're on the whole SJU-SCSU thing, they almost beat us in bouncy-ball, no lie. Saw it happen.

What? This is a hockey thread?

It was at one point. :D

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Speaking of hockey, the '10-'11 schedule is officially out:

Oct 8-9 Nebraska-Omaha Tournament TBA
Oct 15-16 vs. Miami University 7:07p
Oct 22-23 @ Minnesota 7:07p
Oct 29-30 vs Quinnipiac 7:07p
Nov 5-6 vs Bemidji State 7:07p
Nov 12-13 vs. Nebraska-Omaha 7:07pm
Nov 19-20 @ Alaska Anchorage 10:07p
Dec 3-4 @ North Dakota 7:37p/7:07p
Dec 10-11 vs Colorado College 7:07p
Dec 29-30 @ Florida College Classic TBA
Jan 7-8 vs Michigan Tech 7:07
Jan 14-15 BYE
Jan 21-22 @Bemidij State 7:37p/7:07p
Jan 28-29 vs Minnesota State 7:07p
Feb 4-5 @ Nebraska-Omaha 7:37p/7:07p
Feb 11-12 @ Minnesota Duluth 7:07p
Feb 18-19 vs North Dakota 7:07p
Feb 25-26 vs Wisconsin 7:07p
Mar 4-5 @ Denver 8:37p/8:07p
Mar 11-13 WCHA First Round Play-offs TBA
Mar 25-27 NCAA Regionals TBA
Apr 7-9 NCAA Frozen Four @ St. Paul TBA

Not a bad schedule. As far as upper-tier WCHA teams, we see Bucky and Denver once, and have two series with North Dakota. We have two series a piece with newcomers Bemidji and UNO. Gophers series is during Homecoming, but the sad thing is that it looks like both games are at Mariucci.

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

My guess is the Dunn-Lee rotation goes through the tournament, or the Miami series, and then we'll see who takes the starting job. My money's on Dunn.

I would love to see the rotation, but I have a feeling we'll See Dunn in the rest of 2010 but not much in 2011

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Unless someone steps up, the rotation should continue. As for who steps up. i'd put my money on Lee over Dunn. I don't see Dunn getting much better in college.

It's going to depend on how Lee handles himself this year against the upper-tier teams. If we don't know after the Miami series if he's ready, we'll know in early December after the UND series if he can take the starting job on a regular basis.

Miami is only the 2nd week of the season, who knows how both teams will be playing. UND is not going to be on their second-helf season surge, so I wouldn't hold your breath on that either. I say the rotation stays. Both goalies are still building up their confidence and playing time. If I had to choose, I would have to agree with FTLT. Go with Lee. He is the "Wave of the Future!"

I don't doubt Lee's going to get the starter's job eventually, but I'd feel more comfortable if he could establish himself in big games this year. It started to become a roll of the dice whenever he started in goal. Which Mike Lee would show up, the one who was dominant in games, or the Mike Lee who would give up 3, 4, even 7 goals? I mean, the defense for the most part wasn't spectacular by any means this past season, but some of the blame has to go on his shoulders.

Hopefully, he goes out there and steps up, but I agree when you say the rotation is probably going to stay for a while.

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

All I'm saying is Lee has the higher ceiling and farther to grow than Dunn does. I think Dunn can play as well as he did last year but I don't think he can play much better. Lee on the other hand has a lot further he can grow and I think the rotation will likely hinge on how he plays more than it will on how Dunn plays.

Definately. Lee's only a sophomore, he's got this year, plus two years in the starter role assuming Hardy doesn't blow everyone away somehow. All I know is if Lee can go out there and have a solid start between the pipes everytime, this Husky team should be up there with the best again this season.

True, however, especially in one-and-done playoffs, both WCHA and NCAAs, with as quality of a team as he's going to have around him, I'm more worried about the basement than the ceiling.

ZERO chance. I am MUCH more worried about Lee leaving than Hardy stealing any time.

Personally, I'll see how he plays as a sophomore before I worry about "the basement" in tournament games next March or April.

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

With all the hype Lee got I would hope his upside is bigger than Dunn's right now.

Course us Minnesota fans have been down this "goalie not living up to expectations" road many times before.

I'm just saying you're talking about his ceiling. If the rest of the team plays as well as I think we can, then you just want a couple good performances in a couple games in a row, not a stellar outing and then laying an egg.
