SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

INCH's 10 for '11, ten early candidates for Hobey Baker, and here's Roe's writeup:

GARRETT ROE
St. Cloud State
Ryan Lasch set St. Cloud State’s career scoring mark in March, besting Jeff Saterdalen’s total that had topped the chart for 16 years. Lasch’s reign could be short lived, however; Roe needs 42 points to become the school’s top scorer, a reasonable target for a guy who hasn’t scored fewer than 45 points in three seasons with the Huskies. He’ll benefit from a strong supporting cast of returnees that should put SCSU among the preseason favorites to win the WCHA.

Others listed were Cam Atkinson (BC), Chay Genoway (UND), Carl Hagelin (Mich), L'il Kessel (UNH), Riley Nash (Corn), Gustav Nyquist (Maine), Chase Polacek (RPI), Brendan Smith (UW) and Tommy Wingels (Miami)

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Why would you open that up to a crowd that's potentially going to have people trying to win it from you?
As long as it goes to an SCSU fan... I'm okay with it. Also, it keeps me from having to expain the purchase to my wife!!

EDIT: Looks like a Lee relative has outbid me. At least, it appears to be a Lee relative. If so, more power to you!!

Is capt.88 a Lee family member or friend? 5 Ben Franklins!

BTW: How long is KA "idle"?

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Usually the furloughs a week long, once per quarter.

I am aware of that. I was laid off from the Times. :p

Salaried people have to take one continuous week off where hourly can take 5 days off unpaid throughout the quarter.

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Didn't do enough in juniors to play here and has aged out of juniors for next year.
My guess is if he plays anywhere, it'll be D3.

Motzko pulled whatever he was origionally offering and he is not coming. I was told this by a guy who talked to him. I asked if he was still able to walk on if he wanted, but the guy who talked to him didn't know the answer to that.

Makes sense considering he wasn't producing.
I'm ok with adjusting scholarship money or pulling offers if the kid isn't doing what the team needs him to be doing.

I don't blame him but at the same time it has to be hard and a slippery slope. I wonder if he offered to let him walk on and he said no? I would hope a coach would at least do that.

Not only did Nodl get some (little) ice time in Game 1 against Boston in the playoffs, but they put him out on the PK!

No idea on the walk-on part but I would think if the scholarship had been pulled, Ravndalen likely knew he wasn't going to get much playing time or wasn't going to contribute much if he did.
I wish the kid well and he was fun to watch here in Waterloo but in a lot of ways, this is a business and he wasn't getting the job done.
I'd rather have it this way than bringing in a kid who is just "holding a place" because they aren't going to be able to produce.

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

INCH's top ten projected teams for next year has us listed at number 4.

4. ST. CLOUD STATE
2009-10 Record: 24-14-5
Key Returnees: G Dan Dunn, F Jared Festler, G Mike Lee, F Tony Mosey, F Garrett Roe
Key Losses: D Craig Gaudet, F Ryan Lasch, D Garrett Raboin

Despite losing veterans Ryan Lasch and Garrett Raboin, the Huskies should be primary challengers to North Dakota for WCHA supremacy. Forward Garrett Roe returns, as does Tony Mosey, who had a breakout junior campaign with 40 points in 43 games. Senior Dan Dunn and sophomore Mike Lee form the best goaltending tandem in the WCHA. Getting offensive production from the blue line could be an issue, but Oliver Lauridsen, the great Dane, shows promise.

I'm just amazed they had us so high considering the crushing loss of Craig Gaudet. The entire rankings:

1. North Dakota
2. Boston College
3. Miami
4. St. Cloud
5. Michigan
6. Yale
7. Maine
8. Minnesota Duluth
9. New Hampshire
10. Alaska
