9 to go heading into today.

1st one is a medicare-related case. 5-4 (Thomas and Barrett joining the liberal wing) by Kagan. From what I can tell it deals with the interplay between medicaid and medicare for reimbursement purposes, but I'm not really sure and frankly, not going to try to parse it further.

There will be at least one more today.

And I'd to extend a big fuck you to everyone who told me over the years this could never happen. After all, I was being hysterical.

Fuck you.

There are now 26 states where you cannot get a legal abortion. I expect that number to increase.

Alito says it applies only to abortion and does not impact other similar cases like birth control/gay marriage/etc.

Thomas agrees here since no one asked for a complete reversal of substantive due process but explicitly invites challenges to the rest.

Kavanaugh says none of the other rights are called into question, and he specifically says travel to other states for an abortion must be allowed.

They tried to soften the blow...but we know there is no way they stick to that. Thomas all but said so.

From the dissent: "The Justices who wrote those words—O’Connor, Kennedy, and Souter—they were judges of wisdom. They would not have won any contests for the kind of ideological purity some court watchers want Justices to deliver. But if there were awards for Justices who left this Court better than they found it? And who for that reason left this country better? And the rule of law stronger? Sign those Justices up"

They're the American Taliban now. How long before they successfully challenge (as Greg Abbott has discussed) the requirement that states provide free education?

I think that's on the docket at this point. They have consistently been eroding public education for decades. The Trump administration was openly hostile to the very concept.

Coming soon: a federal anti-abortion law.

Until then nobody with an IQ over 90 will want to live in a red state. Only those forced to by circumstances or accidents will remain.

The “Right to privacy” provision in our State Constitution prevents a lot of their future plans and they can’t really appoint unqualified judges to gut it.

I love that Abortion needs to be left up to the states but guns the states have no right to decide. The logic of this court is so fucked they are making me think like Keith Olbermann. (no not really)
