Wouldn't it be amazing if it were? Maybe that's why the Republican party and voters have devolved so much, they don't understand what Government is or does.

Sure they did. They can change the process at any time if they have the power. Mitch changed the process. And he changed it again for this go round. I think now he's honed it down to the last two years of any Presidential term a Supreme Court nominee cannot be even interviewed if the opposing parties control the Senate and the Presidency.

I think it is funny that some have now pivoted from "he didnt do it" to "they could both be telling the truth" including Alan "Never Saw a 5000 Word Essay I couldnt Double" Dershowitz. What they of course leave out is that he claims he never drank to the point of forgetting things...so how could have been so inebriated he did what she claims but doesnt remember it? That doesnt make any sense...
Also they seem to be hung up on Kavanaugh's claim that all 4 witnesses said he didnt do it They never said that. That is actually a mischaracterization of what they said. Judge kinda said that and the rest said they dont remember or didnt witness what he is accused of. Leland said she believes Ford. None of them said it never happened and he didnt do it...because they have no idea.
Kavanaugh was stupid to be absolutist about his drinking. All he had to do is say "in my youth and in college I was like most kids and I partied. I havent done that in years, I regret my actions back then but as my record shows I have been nothing but a model citizen since then." That closes the door on any of this. Sure he would be mocked a bit for being a lush, sure it could then be claimed he MIGHT have done something like ford said and forgotten...but without any corroborating evidence it would fizzle and die. Lying about it only opens the door more and destroys credibility. It makes what she said seem more credible. Just like it makes claims that the GOP are covering things up when they classify 93% of his record. It just looks shady.
The fact that he probably still gets confirmed despite the GOP completely botching this and him having what appears to be a manic episode during his testimony proves the GOP has no interest in governing and no business having power. No equivocations will change that. When they hold the vote despite even Faux News contributors saying "uh maybe we should wait and look into this more" they are proving they are unfit for office. (some proved that long ago but still) They have been given cover to do the right thing and not lose face AND still get someone far right on the court in a few months (one who doesnt appear to be an insult to the high court) and they dont care. That isnt a political move, that is a troll move and it is indefensible. The GOP, when they vote yes, will become exactly what Rover said they are...a crime family.

He thinks he has a future in politics...his voters say otherwise. (he was polling in the teens I believe when he "retired" ) He better kiss up to Trump good and quick or he wont get anything at Faux either. Maybe CNN will have him on so they can tell both sides...or MSNBC will have him on and he can pretend to be moderate.

There's no way a Dem is the deciding vote, even Manchin. The only way any of them vote yes is if the Republicans hold the line and their votes don't matter.

It comes down to the fact that the Republican Party is so extreme that everyone loves the one moderate Republican they can find. They still think Reagan was moderate because he got all those Democrats to vote for him.
The facts are that the Republican Party is an extremist party and has extremist views. And it all started in 1980 when Reagan was elected and fooled everyone into thinking that if they just give the rich guys lots of money everyone will prosper.
Well, it's not true.

I would say whether nor not he did the deed (and for the record I think he did) his temperament during that hearing completely disqualifies him. Rude, incoherent, spouting conspiracy theories, it seems like he was auditioning for a Fox News cable show instead of the SCOTUS.
Do Goopers have the votes? Probably but this will most likely end Susan Collins, Cory Gardner, and Dean Heller's political careers. It would also be nice if women and well meaning men once again confront just what a treasonous, sexist, money laundering cult the GOP has become and start voting Democratic up and down the ballot even if they don't agree with every position the Dem candidates have. The opposition is Nazis, rapists and KKK types. What part of that do people "on the fence" not understand?
