He was so shrill. He really should've tried smiling more.

This is kind of a big deal...of course some around here will tell us they dont matter.

In a strongly worded letter obtained by CNN Thursday, the organization said it is making the extraordinary request "because of the ABA's respect for the rule of law and due process under law," siding with concerns voiced by Senate Democrats since Christine Blasey Ford's decades-old allegations became public.
"The basic principles that underscore the Senate's constitutional duty of advice and consent on federal judicial nominees require nothing less than a careful examination of the accusations and facts by the FBI," said Robert Carlson, president of the organization, in a Thursday night letter addressed to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley and ranking Democrat Dianne Feinstein.
"Each appointment to our nation's Highest Court (as with all others) is simply too important to rush to a vote," Carlson wrote. "Deciding to proceed without conducting additional investigation would not only have a lasting impact on the Senate's reputation, but it will also negatively affect the great trust necessary for the American people to have in the Supreme Court."
The comments are striking because the organization gave Kavanaugh its highest rating of unanimous, "well-qualified" for the Supreme Court. Kavanaugh himself touted that rating at Thursday's emotionally-charged hearing where he denied Ford's sworn testimony that he attempted to rape her when they were teenagers.

A majority of lawyers are libs. Of course the ABA doesn't matter. :)

Pretty sure that isnt true but yes that is what they will say. ;)

The ABA unanimously backed him before this. The ABA doesnt like even the appearance of impropriety and that is all we have here.

Lawyers are overwhelmingly liberal. Not completely, but I'd be shocked if it's not 2/3 or so.

The ABA did just give Kavanaugh their highest rating for a SCOTUS nominee. So in theory, they should have quite a bit of credibility on the subject. But its funny how things change.

I know plenty of conservative lawyers...but that is neither here nor there. The ABA is not some flaming liberal organization or they wouldnt have backed Kavanaugh in the first place. (or Gorsuch)

I mean even Dersh is saying delay...he hasnt said a liberal thing since Trump got into office.

Re: SCOTUS 12: Will Kavanaugh Be Confirmed?

There will be no delay. He's either in, or out via withdraw, or voted down.

If the latter two, in about 1-2 months, there is a non-zero chance we will hear he's entered a rehab facility for sex and booze, and "requests privacy for his family during this difficult time."

Re: SCOTUS 12: Will Kavanaugh Be Confirmed?

I dunno...now they can delay without looking like wimps. If they were smart they would take the "out" and delay.

Oh wait we are talking the GOP...they will pass him on and let the really bad stuff break over the weekend before the full Senate vote then complain some more. ;)

I like the way this guy writes. Unlike Dersh he is concise.

...and ashley said, 'we should pray for the woman'.
that's a lot of wisdom for a ten year old.

:D

Re: SCOTUS 12: Will Kavanaugh Be Confirmed?

Just finished watching Kavanaugh's testimony. Will watch Dr. Ford's tomorrow night. I was waiting for Grassley to break out a stick and start angrily shaking it. Very predictably partisan circus, but I thought the Dems had the better of the questions.

As an aside, the inability for anyone to understand basic english in a Senate hearing (whether testifying, or the Senators themselves) never ceases to amaze me. So many broken records and irrelevant answers.
