RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

Re: RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

Someone please start Saturday's game thread before I decide to do it again. :(

Re: RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

I wanted to let everyone know that we did get the go-ahead to offer the RPI TV stream to everyone, completely free of charge at a very high quality. We had a sucessful stream (although unsucessful game :() tonight and we are really looking forward to offering it to a lot more people tomorrow night (Saturday) and if necessary, Sunday night. We had around 30 viewers today, but would really like to try to set a new record for us tomorrow, and hopefully get more than a hundred, or even more! If you do enjoy watching the RPI TV video feed, be sure to send us an email and let us know! We love hearing back from people. And if enough people email the right people in the athletics department saying how much they enjoy watching the game tomorrow, we might be able to work something out with them to offer more, or all games next season on our website, using our servers at a much higher quality!

We did add a chat box today, which people seemed to enjoy, and I will be working hard tomorrow to refine that a bit before the game.

The game starts at 7pm, but the video stream will go live at 6:30, possibly earlier if we are ready to see a bit of warm ups.

To watch it, visit http://www.rpitv.org/live and please share this link with everyone who may be interested. We really want to show the athletics department that there is a market for free video streams. I would love to have to deal with the problem of running out of bandwidth!

As always, be sure to visit http://www.rpitv.org/ for our back catalog of games. Tonights game is already up and available at http://www.rpitv.org/productions/286-mens-hockey-vs-brown-game-1-ecac-championship-1st-round

Re: RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

Everyone hammering on Pirri for his play in the first period is fair, but holding that over him for the entirety of the game is nonsense. He was one of the few guys attempting to do anything offensively and NOT be a turnover machine in the second and third.

It's pretty simple to figure this one out. RPI gets the first goal, thinks they're going to coast through the game, Brown doesn't deviate from their gameplan and crams it up RPI's lazy backside. RPI played a great first period, aside from the dumb penalties, and then skated out for the better part of the second and third periods with their heads up their butts. I don't care who they're playing, they play that way they're going to lose the game guaranteed.

Once I heard we had the 1-0 lead after two periods, I almost had a gut feeling as to what would happen. I know, history doesn't mean it'll happen again, but have we had a game this year where we were leading 1-0 after two and still won it? Right now UA_, Army, and SLU come to mind.

But hey, we have to win two games, and now, there is no tomorrow. Let's take it to them, show that no one takes us down like that in our house!

Re: RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

Tough game to watch last night. I think Appert was calling time out in the second period because Brown outhustled us to every puck and he didn't like what he saw. I didn't see us put pressure on Brown until they scored 2 goals. That seemed to wake up our players, but by then it was to late.
I also blame the loss on the new hair cuts some freshman got :D ( just kidding)
Pirri and O'Grady died their hair blond and Lee got a mohawk
I hope I see RPI comes out swinging tonight.

Re: RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

I am 5
RC I went to the game/ love Seth's recruits ****ed that he doesn't hold his upperclassemen to the same standards that he held Fridgen's (remember wah wah upperclassmen aren't taking a leadership role)

Sick of this nonsense where everyone says things are great when they ain't.
When Appert got here knuckleheads were thinking that the engineers were gonna win the ECAC in a year or two.

building a program it takes time.

I love Seth, but I reserve the right to bust his balls. I think he will emerge as the best coach in the ECAC if he stays.

Right now he is the best recruiter in the ECAC maybe the EAST.

I think he could do better with his upperclassmen. They are sucking!!
This is a good team and Seth can do a better job. And he knows it!

Why should I comment when they win................ enough of you idiots kissing his ***

:D :D :D :D :D :D ...finally...someone said it. i noticed last night that many of rpi's hard core loyalist left the game before the bed wetters did. This is the most talented team in the ECAC but it consistently gets beat by well coached, less talented teams who play together with heart. Now, i expect to see two wins in a row, some of last nights lesser motivated forwards sitting, and some players with heart off the bench to replace them.

Wonder if we will have any more bodies in the HFH tonight?

Re: RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

Last night we just got outhustled period. Pirri taking the 3 penaltys in the first had me shaking my head but then he goes out and creates at least 5 or more scoring chances in the 3rd but nobody could seem to put the puck past Clemente. IMO Pirri was the best player out there for RPI last night. I said to the person sitting next to me that Brown was gonna make this a chippy physical affair and thats what it was. Win or go home tonight.

Boy, I would love to see an example of this. Unfortunately, you can't provide one.

FYP.

Thanks for the red you sissy. You sure know a lot about this game for someone who has never played at this level ? :D Just keep drinking that kool aid, everything will be ok. They should win the next two.

That wasn't me. But since I've apparently already taken some heat for it... I might as well serve up some.

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment.

They should win the next two.

Talk about drinking the kool aid?

The better team doesn't always win. We learned that this weekend last year.

As I wrote last night, I hate myself for singling people out and will try to refrain from doing so moving forward. That said, taking 3 penalties in the first period hurt us -- if in no other way than being more tired in the 3rd period. As I said before, If we have to kill 2 mins. I want it for laying wood in front of York or ringing somebody's bell (#7 comes immediately to mind) NOT for irresponsible mouthing off..or being lazy on defense.

These guys have 35+ games under their belt...they're not freshmen anymore, IMO.

Doubt it -- spring break plus MAAC hoops at the TUC. You and Jenny could always grace us with a visit Doc...they've got a nice new hotel waiting for you on Hoosick St.:p

If you bothered to watch the late local news or reading the newspapers, you'd have knowledge to the contrary.

I understand this would take effort on your part however.

I'd be more impressed if you told us who you thought would sit tonight, but I understand this would require sticking your neck out of your shell.

Re: RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

RPI played a great first period, aside from the dumb penalties..
Does not compute...:D I agree overall with your comments though GLM.

This was 1 goal game entering the 3rd, but RPI never made it out of the locker room. Once Bruno tied it, I knew it was gonna be a long night.

Re: RPI V: Chase for the Championship (and Hobey)

Schott's video interview with Appert last night. He admits to being "mad". To summarize -- Seth was channeling Dennis Green: "They are who we thought they were..."

He also said our forwards needs to take a cue from Brown's forwards (i.e. going hard to the net, crashing the net following shots, getting rebounds...) "...Allen (York) made a bad play (on the 2nd goal)... our defensemen "threw the puck around" too much.

Whittet: "...I told our guys to keep driving the net....we won't change our game plan (tonight)."

York: "...I made an error on the 2nd one."
