Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

I dont think it was mentioned but Nick Bailen scored the overtime game winning goal in the USHL All-Star Game last night.
After 60 minutes of play, the game went to overtime with each team skating four players a side. It appeared to be heading to a shootout but defenseman Nick Bailen fired a puck that found the back of the net with just 13 seconds remaining in the overtime period giving Team CCM (East) the victory.

He was also named player of the game for Team CCM.

Some more on Bailen:

“It was a great event. Yesterday (which featured an All-Star banquet featuring former NHL players and front office personnel and the Stanley Cup) was fabulous,” commented Bailen. “Today was also special. My parents were here. Since this is my fourth year in the league, I was called “grandpa”.

Video of Jacob Laliberte at practice and interview.

Good video - my guess is it was filmed after the Jan. 3 loss to Cumberland as the coach mentions having lost 4 straight. Too bad they never bothered to ask him what his future plans were. He mentions "working towards his goals", but the interviewer fails to ask him the rather obvious follow-up question as to what those goals were.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

On Thursday, the Cornwall Colts defeated the Cumberland Grads 6-3. Jacob Laliberté had a goal and two assists. He was named #2 star. http://cjhlsite.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=1048230

Laliberté's line is now 36-40-36-76-24.

Standard Freeholder account of the game.

JL linemate/buddy/housemate Mathieu Ouellette - has been lighting it up since landing in Cornwall (4-4-5-9). While he's been pegged as a DIII prospect, the story speculates he might draw D1 attention. Bring him along JL ! :D

"...On Thursday, Ouellette as the game went on played on a line with captain Jacob Laliberte and speedster Shane Avery. All three billet at the same home in Cornwall; Ouellette said the chemistry among the three is good.

Ouellette's start in Cornwall has been close to spectacular, and it may add to his hockey options for next year. Playing at the NCAA division lll level is a possibility; so is Ottawa University, or playing overseas.

What about an NCAA first division team? What seemed unlikely just a few weeks ago may now be a possibility, depending on Ouellette's - and the Colts' - production the rest of the season.

"To have a good playoff run, that's one of my goals,'' Ouellette said.
Could that, along with his play here so far, revive his career?
"It could,'' Ouellette said with a smile.

His former coach, Grads bench boss Paul Flindall, is a big Ouellette backer.
"Could he play D1? Absolutely, he has amazing skill,'' Flindall said. "I'm not sure what the knock on him has been..."

"Coaches Corner" from the P'ton Vees blog. At about the 4 min. mark the coach mentions parking Curadi in front of the net on some PP's...:D Are you listening Doc? :p

Also at the 19 min. mark - mention of as many as 28  NHL scouts visiting.
