Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

It is the 20th, yes, and nobody has a claim on them yet so they're yours for the taking. A whopping $8 for the two of them (student ticket price, woo). If you're at HFH before then we can meet up so I can hand them off, otherwise we can work something out on game day.

Hey GRussinko...I'll take the tix if they're still available. Me thinks that we will be at HFH toward the end of this month...I think Rich will arrive in the US and drive right to RPI!!!! I'll let you know the exact date and we'll go to you or meet where you choose...many thanks again!:) :)

I doubt that he is in school currently. Remember that he was born in 1990. If he didn't graduate in 2008, he almost certainly did last spring.

RB -- Gotta think he is taking some kind of credit-worthy classes (Math, English?) this year. Can't imagine RPI Admissions would be too excited to have him enroll after not having touched a book in a year, especially being that he is a Francophone...?

You could be correct, but it wouldn't surprise me if several players over the years haven't touched a book in the year previous to college.

I agree -- I think it happens a lot -- especially in the leagues with teams that have less emphasis on the student part of student-athlete.:p My gut tells me that Appert would want him doing something productive away from the ice...relates to the maturity issue that has been mentioned as well. I hope he is..it'd be a waste of a great opportunity for him not to get a jump on his freshman courseload. I don't recall what we have heard about JL's academics strength.

Their brains do get mushy AND their common sense goes for a walkk once in a while when it comes to classes...but if they're on a good team, the organization will encourage them to enroll for at least one college course ...and there are the rare few (unfortunately NOT mine) who take courses for s**ts and giggles...

I wonder where Mr. 4.0 Joe Juneau fell in considering this discussion...

Just a dumb question out of left field here but I have to ask it. At what point would it be a recruiting violation for members of this board to provide cheap tickets or buy drinks to Babo and her returning hero? Anyone have a clue on that? I've got to think that $4 student tickets are a non-issue but it does make me curious as to where between a cheap ticket and say a new car the line gets crossed.

We're right on top of it. It's important to remember stuff like that. (And it's nothing personal, of course, babo. Just want to make sure the Institute and Luke are not getting themselves in trouble)

I think that he was attending the equivalent of a 5th year of HS the year before he arrived at RPI at a CEGEP. They do thinks differently in Quebec. He got some college credits due to that which helped him finish his BS in three years at RPI.
