Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2019-20

On Saturday, the Maryland Black Bears lost to the New Jersey Titans 8-5. Reid Leibold had an assist. http://nahl.com/game-center/#/game-summary/25697

Leibold's line is 2-0-1-1-0.
change https to http
Matt Cameron plays for NJ.

Leibold played on the first line both nights, which is a really good sign in my opinion
Obviously they took a goal scored by Liebold away. Last night when I looked he had Maryland’s 5th goal. Anyway, the Northwood School played CP Dynamo last night. I had a chance to speak with the Northwood HC. He said Liebold is a bona-fide goal scorer. Said his game thrives on it. He plays with an edge & won’t back down anywhere on the ice. That was my thought also when I saw him play last year. He sees Liebold in a top 6 & PP. Needs to work on his D but he will score at RPI. I said it sounded great but hope he keeps his commit. Coach said he was aware of the de-commits RPI has seen lately. Said it was a “catch-22”. Keep losing & you’ll lose most top recruits. The trick is to now win with what you have & you’ll see recruits honor their commit.

That's what I have been saying about keeping recruits too.
I was not particularly impressed with Leibold when I saw him two years ago in Arlington, VA. He sewmed to be just going through the motions. But it was only one game.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2019-20

On Sunday, the Powell River Kings defeated the Cowichan Valley Capitals 7-2. Jack Brackett had 3 assists (2 PPAs). He was named the #3 Star. https://bchl.ca/stats/game-summary/9224

Brackett's line is now 4-0-3-3-4.
The announcers thought that JB’s second PPA was a PPG. I will check in the AM if it is changed.

Edit: he just lost that assist. He has just two now.
JB left the ice "as a precaution" after getting involved when Cowichan Valley started to goon it up in the 3rd period. (Note the one-sided penalties.)

The years the men's recruits are listed as committed for are not necessarily accurate.
The dates on which some of the women are listed as committing on may be considerably after the actual dates.
I am assuming that Neutral Zone regards their Star ratings as public because they tweet them with committals.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2019-20

Good ridddance to him & Fontaine. DS took a chance on both when they had very little interest from others. F..........udge ‘em both.

Could it be that this is what they were thinking? "I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as a member"
One of the great quotes made by a brilliant comedian from a talented family.

That's the thing that really annoyed me with Fontaine. He was on a Lawrence Academy team with 7 or 8 guys that already had HE commits. They weren't beating down the doors for him. Only after having a pretty good season with Chicago (and I suspect, some help from our staff to get there), did he get some HE attention and jump. Now Sarlo, who I'd heard was a decent player that needed to work on his skating, has followed a similar path. Unfortunately, I think Ralph's right that we just have to win more because player commits to losing programs appear to be little more than placeholders. We've made some progress under Smith, albeit at a more deliberate pace than we'd like. Hopefully this season that pattern continues or even accelerates. If it doesn't, there may be others that see the ice being smoother in someone else's rink.
