If they don`t want to be here then good riddance.Most of the players that bailed on us haven`t been world beaters. congers was a bust and the kid that wound up with Erie in the OHL will probably regret passing on RPI and Michigan soon enough.The ohrvall that went to alabama didn`t set any records either. The modern era of recruiting just stinks all around.

That's the thing that really annoyed me with Fontaine. He was on a Lawrence Academy team with 7 or 8 guys that already had HE commits. They weren't beating down the doors for him. Only after having a pretty good season with Chicago (and I suspect, some help from our staff to get there), did he get some HE attention and jump. Now Sarlo, who I'd heard was a decent player that needed to work on his skating, has followed a similar path. Unfortunately, I think Ralph's right that we just have to win more because player commits to losing programs appear to be little more than placeholders. We've made some progress under Smith, albeit at a more deliberate pace than we'd like. Hopefully this season that pattern continues or even accelerates. If it doesn't, there may be others that see the ice being smoother in someone else's rink.

We already know that Babich is enthused about U Illinois possibly starting a program.

I am in agreement. There is a bit of a question is to which recruits leaving had to do with Smith not wanting some of Appert's players. OTOH, Fontaine definitely left because he thinks NU is better. (Also, he has a sister there.) If Sarlo leaves it is also because he thinks the grass is greener elsewhere.

It has been my experience that the grass is often greenest over the septic tank.

On Wednesday, the Powell River Kings defeated the Trail Smoke Eaters 5-2. Jack Brackett had 2 assists and a hooking penalty. He was named the #2 Star. https://bchl.ca/stats/game-summary/9229

Brackett's line is now 5-0-4-4-6.

From the coach after the game: jack Brackett is one of the fastest players in the league, if not the fastest.
The penalty may be in error. I will check when I return from biking.
