RPI Pros VI

Patrick Polino signed with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits today of the ECHL! He'll be playing under Andrew Lord. That makes 3 of RPI's senior class with pro contracts (Reilly, Gornall, Polino). I think Zieky and Marrello will also sign at some point

Maybe we need am RPI football alum thread ;-)

Article on Andrew Franks https://www.montereyherald.com/2020/...on-nfl-career/

If Andrew was a female soccer player he probably would have been signed quickly. He was a scoring force for RPI and made us a very competitive team. He has as strong a leg as anyone kicking in the NFL today. Only a matter of time before some team sees what they have been missing. Best of luck to Andrew!!
Perhaps the best I had seen in person (but I only go back as far as Lou 'The Toe' Groza!

Elite Prospects lists him playing for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Yeah, I figured he wouldn't make the team, but I think every other player who is signed to an ELC is in their training camp. This includes recent signings Drew O'Connor, Josh Maniscalco and Cam Lee who are all in the same boat as Reilly as NCAA players who just signed contracts. Can't imagine that it's a good thing that he's not there :-(

The NHL is due to start its schedule on Jan. 13. The AHL has announced that it will begin play on Feb. 5. Of course, it was to be expected that the AHL would begin later, since AHL teams have to wait for the NHL teams to make their final cuts before they know who's available to play in the AHL.

I was curious as to how much longer it would be before Andrew Lord's Greenville Swamp Rabbits would start their schedule, assuming that the ECHL would have to wait for the AHL teams to make their final cuts. Surprise! The ECHL began play in December. The Swamp Rabbits have already played eight games. They're 3-3-1-1.

Word is that the Senior Bowl football game, which for many years has been played between teams designated as "North" and "South," will change the teams' names this year. This is being done out of an abundance of political correctness, lest anyone be disturbed by nicknames that can be regarded as reminiscent of "insensitive Civil War imagery." The new team nicknames will be "American" and "National."

The game will continue with the tradition of having the teams coached by NFL coaches whose teams did not make the playoffs.

If anybody asks us RPI fans who was the winning coach of the last Senior Bowl game played between the North and the South, we can tell them the answer.

It was Matt Patricia, who coached the North team to a 34-17 win in January 2020.

Perhaps in the future they will take the N and the S off of all the compasses.

Andrew Lord's Greenville Swamp Rabbits finished the regular season in second place in the Eastern Division of the ECHL, with a record of 38-19-12-3, pretty good when you consider that their overall goal differential was only a +6.

Greenville will play the Indy Fuel in the first round of the Kelly Cup playoffs. The first round is best-of-five, with the higher-seeded team getting to choose which three games they will play at home. The Swamp Rabbits have chosen to play games 2, 3, and 4 (if necessary) at home, with games 1 and 5 (if necessary) in Indy.
