Re: RPI Pros V

Really nice to hear Oates give credit and thanks to his college coach Mike Addesa. I watch these HofF induction ceremonies every year-most of the speeches are quite good but i don't think I have seen one with as much emotion shown-Adam was so close to tears you could hear his voice cracking. As many other players have been-a true credit to the game. Congrats to a great player who deserved his induction and here's hoping for great success for him as coach of the Capitols (unless of course they are playing the Rangers).:)

Re: RPI Pros V

I mentioned on the main RPI thread that SA was at the HHoF induction ceremony to honor Oates. Obviously they could have met almost anywhere, but I don't think that Oates has been at RPI since SA became coach. Oates didn't attend the '85 team reunion a couple of years ago and his induction to the Ring of Honor was prior to SA. Does anyone have any info?

Re: RPI Pros V

Well, he never came to RPI, but he once was a committal. Does anyone know where Nick Quinn is now? He played the last two seasons in the OHL, and this year he was a recruit for U. Guelph, but he is not on their roster.

Re: RPI Pros V

Patrick Cullen had his first game yesterday, was hoping to score a goal... Didn't get it but looks like he did have an assist on his team's only goal in their 4-1 loss. http://ehck.de/ehc/index.php

Also, from the article announcing his signing with the team, looks like they're nicknamed "Rot-Weißen"-or Red-Whites, so basically he's back in Cherry and White :):p

I have no doubt that they had met. Here's a T/U article detailing the job Appert has done in reaching out to hockey alums -- from all eras.
Includes Gary Kearns quote: "...That's why so many of the alumni are so much more involved now. It's that appreciation Seth has for what the alumni and the previous players put into the program."

I though that was such a bad decision for him to decommit....Quinn Sr. no doubt thought he knew what was best for Nick. Too bad.

They could have met almost anywhere and probably have met somewhere. I just don't recall reading that Oates was at RPI since he was inducted into the RoH. Has Hershey played at Albany yet this year? They could have met there.

Hershey doesn't come to Albany till late Feb. but they are playing in Glens Falls this Sat. night.

I know they've played at the Crunch; most recently this past Friday.

Re: RPI Pros V

probably wasn't the start he was looking for but Kurt Colling's team, the Hoosac Owls, lost to Eric Cavosie's Albany Academy squad 5-0 yesterday. Would have been much worse if not for Hoosac's goalie who btw is only a Soph. so there's something to build with.

An article in today's Harrisburg Patriot-News contains a brief section about Oates' return to Glens Falls, where he spent the 1985-86 season as a member of the Adirondack Red Wings.

Sounds like, even for a future Hall of Famer coming from an NCAA championship team, the transition from college hockey to the pros wasn't a walk in the park.
