Re: RPI Pros V

Depending on what veteran G Evgeny Nabokov decides it could be a good break for Yorkie........The Tampa Bay Lightning placed Evgeni Nabokov on waivers this afternoon and recalled Andrei Vasilevskiy from the Syracuse Crunch. According to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston, the Lightning are expected to assign Nabokov to the Crunch should he clear waivers. There's no reason to believe that he will be claimed, but Johnston does speculate that Nabokov may not report to the AHL if and when assigned. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Michael-Stuart/Nabokov-Waived-Vasilevskiy-Recalled/173/66034
Nabokov has been traded to SJ where he will announce his retirement with the team he spent most of his NHL career. So, looks like Yorkie should stay w/Syr. His effort in net Sat. night will certainly help....#3 Star http://theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1014163

Re: RPI Pros V

BP suffered an upper body injury just seconds into tonight’s game. He collided with Getzlaf at center ice and his left arm went limp. BP skated right off and went into the locker room, told he won’t return. Perhaps the RPI soup du jour for injuries this year has made it to Fla. It certainly looked like a shoulder injury........ PIRRI HURT
Winger Brandon Pirri injured his shoulder after being hurt 17 seconds into the game when he and Ryan Getzlaf collided at center ice on the opening shift.
Gallant said he didn't think it was anything too serious.

Truly would like to believe that-but-shoulders are impossible to predict for a couple days. Just too many things to go wrong inside there.

JD’A scores against Yorkie but Yorkie gets the win..... http://theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1014257
In the postgame interview Jerry merely states, “the goalie gave me the glove side”......... The Amerks cut Syracuse’s lead to one with 11:27 left in the third period when Irwin flipped a pass up the middle to D’Amigo, who raced in on a breakaway and took a shot that slipped past York’s glove and in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYhL05yAxZc

Re: RPI Pros V

York was signed by the Lightning to a two-way contract through the end of the season:

Seems odd to replace the AHL two-way with the NHL. No injuries up top, Vasilevskiy has been fine, and I assume Gudlevskis is next in line.

York just doesn't seem to get off the roller coaster. At least I would think that going to NHL two way should be a raise in pay.
Would love to see him get another shot at the NHL.

There is still time for him. As i have often mentioned, goalies can hang around for years before finally getting their best shot. Not usually the case for forwards. Tampa Bay is a playoff team almost for certain. Their main competition may just well be Montreal who has about the best goals against average around and a series with them could well be decided by goaltending. And you can never have enough as back up as my NY Rangers have discovered. Thankfully Cam Talbot has stepped in and performed so well since the extending injury time for King Henry could have otherwise destroyed their promising season.

Insurance for Tampa Bay. Any team could’ve signed Yorkie to an NHL contact (2 way) thus they would’ve lost their backup on Syr. Neither goalie on their ECHL Team is property of Tampa. Still, good for Yorkie.

Re: RPI Pros V

With the recent retirement of Evgeni Nabokov, Tampa Bay had been left with three goalies under NHL contracts: Ben Bishop, Andrei Vasilevskiy and Kristers Gudlevskis. NHL teams want to have four signed at any given time, in case two get hurt.

York started this season with Florida of the ECHL. Had the Lightning waited until after the NHL trade deadline of March 2 to sign York to a NHL contract, he would not have been eligible to play for Syracuse the rest of the season..... http://www.syracuse.com/crunch/inde...e?hootPostID=79e1dbea345bc308fd80164df9e51bfd

Re: RPI Pros V

Interesting, Tampa has assigned G Andrei Vasilevskiy back to Syracuse. No move yet concerning Yorkie. Being reported that Vasileskiy will get tonight’s start vs Rochester. Tampa doesn’t play till Friday so he could go right back after tonight’s game.
