Re: RPI Pros V

Just came back from Hartford's game against the Norfolk Admirals. Haggs looked pretty good, getting an assist and a few shots on net. He also got in a fight (not a very good throwdown, though I would say he won). He was on the first line and first PP unit. Also starting was Mat Bodie, so RKarger and I had a good time both cheering for and against the Wolf Pack depending on who had the puck.

Re: RPI Pros V

The reason for Burgdoerfer's callup is not readily apparent, as he did not play in the Bears' game this afternoon.

Re: RPI Pros V

After scoring his 3rd goal in as many games BP is now day-to-day (concussion) after taking elbow to head in game vs Arizona last night.

This is what I had been worried about. Pirri is at great risk of this kind of injury. He is just not big enough to withstand the pummeling that occurs at this level. It is what ending up shortening the career of brad Tapper(who was of similar size) and sent him to the less injury prone play of Europe. These concussions are additive-each one that occurs is like accumulating compound interest. Truly hope this is not the beginning of trouble.

Certainly is something to be wary of. If you didn’t see it, BP was winding up for a shot when an Ariz. player skated over & caught him in the head with his elbow. Knocked Brandon’s helmet clear off and no penalty was called. His team mates did take exception though. After BP took the shot he did continue to play. Perhaps later in the night symptoms occurred.

Re: RPI Pros V

I briefly thought Burgdoerfer had actually scored a goal, as the Hershey play-by-play announcer's call went "Bears win the faceoff, back to Burgdoerfer, one-timer, SCORE."

As the announcer quickly elaborated, it turned out that Burgdoerfer, after the puck came to him, quickly passed the puck to a teammate who took the one-timer. After pronouncing Burgie's polysyllabic name, the announcer just didn't have time to describe the pass before he saw the shot going into the net.

Re: RPI Pros V

Good to see two former RPI players in action in Hershey tonight, as Ryan Haggerty and the Hartford Wolf Pack faced off against Eric Burgdoerfer and the Hershey Bears.

Both represented themselves well, each finishing with a +1 and picking up a primary assist on a go-ahead goal for his team. In Haggerty's case, it was the game-winning goal in Hartford's 3-2 win.

Good day for alums!

Johnny Rogic scored his first professional goal for the Quad City Mallards. He was named 3rd star. :)

Mathias Lange signed a two year contract extension with the Iserlohn Roosters, apparently the first among his team to receive an extension this season. At least I think that's what the article says!

Allen York won his ECHL-leading 8th game of the season, backstopping a 2-0 shutout for the Everblades. He was named first star. :)

One disappointing note is that Mike Zalewski was not in the lineup for the Comets, who were playing in the Carrier Dome and set a record for indoor professional hockey attendance at 30,715.
