It is probably better that they let him go, rather than have him sit behind someone for the rest of the season. I am sure he will pop up someplace else before too long.

According to the Panthers' website, Pirri will be wearing # 73 for Florida. They did not elaborate on a reason for that choice.

The Panthers' GM who swung the deal is Dale Tallon - who was the Blackhawks' GM at the time they drafted Pirri.

watching the Panthers vs Bruins now. PxP guy said he asked BP why #73 and said, Pirri told him when the Panthers asked what # he wanted he said it was the 1st time anyone had asked him what # he wanted so he just said, "I wore #37 with Chicago, so I guess I'll take #73". BTW, BP is centering the 3rd line with Hayes & Huberdeau.
