Re: RPI Pros IV

For those that have not been following-the Florida Everblades have made it through all the rounds and have reached the finals of the Kelly Cup. They currently lead the Las Vegas Wranglers 2 games to 1 in the best of 7 final. If they can hang on to win it will mean that our own Brad Tapper(as assistant coach) will have completed a hat trick of Cups. He won the Turner Cup with the Orlando Solar Bears(2000-2001) and the Calder Cup with the Chicago Wolves(2001-2002). I am not sure any RPI player has ever won 3 different professional cups but it certainly would be quite an achievement.

Re: RPI Pros IV

Jerry's been money in the bank when OKC pulled their goalie.

Last three games, the Marlies finished them off with ENG's. Jerry scored two of those and assisted on the other.

Re: RPI Pros IV

agreed Doc. Perhaps the Cup will put him over the top with voters whom for whatever reason have not included his name for the HOF.

Some years he had the misfortune of being on the ballot among some really deserving competition. But his totals (admittedly mostly assists) just beg for him to be included. I go back a long time and have watched as a fairly substantial number of those voted into the Hall just do not belong (in my humble opinion). But then again I feel that way about the baseball Hall of Fame also. I do not claim to be any sort of expert on these things-but statistics alone just do not expalin who gets admission.

That's great. Eric has always been one of my favorite Engineers. His pro career was set back by a serious wrist injury or he might have had a real shot at the NHL.
Congratulations Eric.

Exactly EHF. I am not sure very many knew how serious that injury was. His wrist was virtaully severed-he could have bled out completely if not for some very quick action to save him.

the Marlies' chance at the Calder Cup took a big hit as Matt Frattin is out for the playoffs. On that last ENG against Okl., he crashed into the net & tore his knee requiring season ending surgery. Game1 tonight vs Norfolk.

I know this shouldn't make me happy, but I really didn't like Frattin when he was at NoDak...... Too bad it'll end up hurting D'Amigo.

Here's an article about the goaltending situation in Columbus. The section relevant to Yorkie:

Then there's York, who was one of the late-season success stories in 2011-12 after a rough start.

York bounced around the minor leagues in the first five months of the season -- AHL to ECHL and back again a handful of times, barely playing for long stretches of the season. Then, out of desperation due to injuries, the Blue Jackets recalled him and put him in the lineup. He went 3-2-0 with .919 and 2.30 save percentage, and showed an impressive work ethic, his "battle" level wearing off on the players around him.

Still, at this stage of his career -- one year removed from college -- York is targeted for a job in the AHL next season. The kid needs to play.

"We see him as (an organizational) No. 3 or No. 4 at this point in his career," Howson said.

Very fair assessment of york. In spite of my own bias-he really is a number 3 or 4 for them right now. But with a little more time and success I see him as a 2 or even their number 1 goalie (but i am hopeful some other organization sees that first and trades for him).
