Re: RPI Pros IV

I don't think so, not that we've heard...could he still be invited to camp?
He can still go to the rookie camp. I watched him last year. He can also particpate in intrasquad scrimmages, just not against players for other teams. (IIRC)

Re: RPI Pros IV

Good catch RED. Seems Columbus just threw another log on the fire.
They're starting to convince me that maybe it would be better for York if he was traded.

Kevin Beattie's reaction via Twitter:
Not exactly thrilled with CBJ trading for a goaltender when they have a very talented Allen York in the organization. Of course York has no problem competing so adding Bobrovsky just adds additional motivation, I am guessing. ‪#RPI‬

Re: RPI Pros IV

Rumors swirling at the draft that Adam Oates is in the mix for the Washington Capitals head coaching job. Nothing concrete, just adding to the off-season speculation...

Re: RPI Pros IV

I had asked Yorkie about Scot Howson's quote (post #911) at the Banquet. He said he knew they would be going after another (NHL) goalie and he'll just keep working at what he can control and just wants an oppurtunity to compete. and to open up the 2nd round, CBJ's select goaltender Oscar Dansk.........and to open up round 3 CBJ selects a goalie from Finland.

Great organization, trade for a #1 goalie with four goaltenders already in the mix and then waste two high draft picks on goaltenders.
Is there a rule about using two goalies in a game at the same time.
This organization may be the dumbest in over 50 years of following the NHL.

Unless of course they have had some dealings with another team that is willing to trade an established player for one of the 4 goalies. There are so many secret things going on that we are never privy to.

I guess it depends on where the draftees are going to play next season. Columbus will need two goalies, their AHL affiliate will need two (last year they had an old NHL goalie taking up too much time away from prospects), and their ECHL team will need two.
There has to be a trade or two in their future. Maybe things will clear up after July 1st.

Are the two goalies they just drafted pro-ready? Or are they going to juniors/college to play for 2-4 years before they end up in the ECHL/AHL/NHL?

Hopefully York ends up as the concrete starter in the AHL this year. It seems to me that would be more beneficial at this point than being an NHL backup with the limited number of starts accompanying such a position.

after reading this I wondered if these scouts were opposed to the choices made in CBJ's draft..............Especially after you hear the report by the Dispatch that soon after the draft was over, the Blue Jackets fired four of their amateur scouts including John Williams, the one that was heavily scouting both first round selections Ryan Johansen and this year's pick Ryan Murray.

"We just felt it was time to change the direction of the scouting staff," Howson told the Dispatch. "We informed them that their contracts won't be renewed. We're thankful for their loyal service."

Brian Bates, Andrew Shaw, Artem Telepin and Williams were all shown the door as Tyler Wright is putting his stamp on this scouting staff by getting rid of people that he doesn't have comfort in and he will bring in scouts that thinks as he does.

I too would like to see York as the starter in the AHL. He still needs a lot more game time experience. However, the blue Jackets now have three NHL tested goalies (besides York), not counting the old man in the AHL. So it seem more likely that York will be spotted whereever he is needed.
Still not a good situation.
