The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Congratulations to Dutchfan who snipes a weekly win by taking the popular pick of Laliberte and adding in Welsh's 3 points. And, with that weekly win, he denies a large group of 6 posters from gaining that bonus point. Also, we presumably bid adieu to Dutchfan until mid-January.
Ralph holds onto first place overall and MavHockey halts his skid with three points from Welsh while cnor continues to struggle to find the scoreboard (that's three straight weeks without a point). Everyone that was in the Top 10 continues to be in the Top 10 and there was relatively little movement, overall.
The top choices on the weekend were:
Welsh with his goal and assist (Dutchfan, GRussinko, MavHockey14) and Gostisbehere with his goal (nobody) for the Dutchmen. CJ Lee (lugnut92... finally [for real this time]) and McGowan (nobody) both scored for the Engineers, making them worth two points each.
Rensselaer gets another extended break before visiting Connecticut for the second of three times this season to play in the UConn Tournament.
UMass Lowell has an impressive 7-4-0 HEA record with their first-year coach. They're coming off of a semi-baffling split where they beat BC but lost to a resurgent Northeastern who also has a first-year coach.
Army and Connecticut will be playing each other in an AHA contest on Friday and both are coming into the tournament on a losing streak.
Since this is a true tournament (instead of a showcase), you should make one pick for the entire weekend for each of the four teams. All four of the games played New Year's Eve weekend will count towards the PtC standings (which means that there are plenty of opportunities to rack up some points).
--------------------
This is an example of a valid set of picks:
RPI - Matt Tinordi
UML - Stephen Buco
Army - Mike Henderson
Connecticut - Corey Jendras
--------------------
You may not choose the following players for this weekend:
Rensselaer:
F - Brock Higgs
D - Nick Bailen
RPI: He's still eligible... Jacob Laliberté
FML: Derek Arnold (had to check to make sure he's not the Arnold that's at the WJC)
Warm Up the Tanks: Zak Zaremba
UConn (SUCKS!) (sorry, my inner local-ness creeped in there): Brant Harris
Any of you guys going to be there? I'll be there in Clarkson colors for the first game if anyone wants to chat. Newsboy herringbone tweed hat that can' t be missed between periods in the lobby. I do have an MS from RPI so I feel entitled to root for you guys in this one special circumstance.
