Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

This is unlikely, given we heard through a press report that St. Cloud State will be going to the Catamount Cup, and that would prevent the RPI series.
Ah, if thats the case, Im not seeing any other weekends available where SCSU could play RPI this season.

According to sources at UVM they're not.

EDIT: Although if what you say is true, it'd give me a good excuse to drive to Minnesota.

I believe there is alot of confusion on St. Cloud due to their expected slot as the 4th team in the GLI. Once that was moved to the outdoors in conjunction with the Winter Classic, they wanted a 4th Michigan team and that left St. Cloud with 2 games to schedule. They were invited to Vermont and possibly accepted but also were looking for 2 more home games. At the same time Western Michigan had to drop 2 games to become the 4th team in the GLI and tentavively moved the RPI games to 2013-2014 which left RPI 2 games to schedule. Nothing is official but everything I heard is that RPI will be at St. Cloud on Dec 27 & 28.

Sounds like musical chairs. :)

Which team does Red Cloud root for?

You have an issue, though, because if they're still doing the Catamount Cup, that's around the same weekend. Therefore, the only way to play RPI on those dates is to not play in the Catamount Cup. Also, as we saw from St. Cloud's tentative, they don't have room for both RPI AND the Catamount Cup.

As I mentioned in my post, they possibly accepted the Catamount Cup until there became an opportunity to have 2 home games against RPI and then declined if they did indeed accept in the first place. Bottom line is RPI will be at St. Cloud Dec 27 and 28. I know St Clouds schedule states the 28th and 29th but they agrred to move up one day due to RPI's home game on New Years Eve.

Have some links, aside from SCSU Euro's post? Here's what I have: https://www.dailygazette.com/weblog...ddon-confirms-union-will-be-in-catamount-cup/

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

I know. Its confusing because Ken still thinks St. Cloud is in the Catamount Cup as of now but both RPI and St. Cloud are reporting that they are playing each other. We will see when it all becomes official.

Where are they reporting this? Or are you still trying to dust off your PHP know-how? ;)

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

The open week in October that results if we go to SCSU seems very odd. Hopefully another game can be moved there.

You will get a season ticket brochure in the next week or two. The Western Michigan games will be gone and the away St. Clouds are added. You believe what you want. I have already explained. Next subject.

No I won't. I'm not a season ticket holder. :p

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

Perhaps we look to move Sacred Heart there?

That was my first thought, and I think that I posted it on the schedules thread, but johnk pointed out that the SCSU games were moved up a day to accompany that. Someone posted that perhaps a Union game could be moved to the October weekend.

I already mentioned this but I wouldnt mind seeing that late January non-conference game against Union moved up to October. It would give the team a weekend off right in the heart of the ECAC schedule, which could be helpful come playoff time or break up the back to back Union conference games the first weekend in November and move the Union home game to January.

That'd certainly be nice, as a bye weekend in the middle of the ECAC schedule would certainly help out.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

Today is 11 April 2012. There are 178 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is supposedly scheduled.
