RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

I don't see any threads devoted to the TV schedule for the Frozen Four, so I'll post my comment here.

According to my newspaper, ESPN2 will only be televising the Minnesota - BC game on Thursday. The Union - Ferris State game will be preempted for the Cincinnati Reds' Opening Day baseball game against the Marlins. :(

If anybody knows of a network where the first semifinal game will be televised, please let us all know.

I know that the powers that be in college hockey decided years ago to postpone the Frozen Four for a week so that there would be no conflict with the basketball Final Four.

Should they now consider postponing the Frozen Four for two weeks, so that it won't conflict with baseball Opening Day games, either?

The NCAA doesn't recognize pro sports. :)

I'm in the Colonie area and my TV schedule has the first game being shown on ESPNU for us.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

A good old RPI-Colgate lock-up with Foss and Morin. Then it seemed like Pirri and Foss caught up with each other and Foss said something where Brandon started laughing. Wonder what it was. Oh, I know. "Union made it to the Frozen Four." :D
maybe I'm missing something here but Morin (Jeremy) played in the O with Kitchener, not Colgate.

Thanks for the info.

Doesn't do me a lot of good. ESPNU is only offered as part of a special (and expensive) sports-oriented tier on my cable system, and I'm too cheap to shell out that much extra money.

Who do you have? You may have access to the game on ESPN3.com if your cable or internet provided participates with ESPN.

We don't have any cable service at all; I've been able to watch the games directly on espn3.com.

I have cable and internet service through Comcast/xfinity.

The system supposedly allows me to watch TV shows on my computer, but on the few occasions when I've tried it, I've found that the broadcasts repeatedly freeze in the middle of a scene and then pick up again after several seconds' worth of action have gone by unseen and unheard. It gets pretty tiresome after a while.

I've never tried to access ESPN3, so I don't know if I could expect the quality of the broadcast to be any better.

I've tried it on occassion. The broadcast is of good quality and if your connection speed is fast, it really is quite good. I am fortunate enough to have all the ESPN channels and will get it on TV.

Hmm....it might be the speed of your internet connection, or it might be your computer itself. I notice a substantial difference depending on whether I am watching on the computer that has wireless connection through our router, or whether I am watching on the computer that has hard-wire connection through the router. the latter is much better quality than the former; however, the former is connected to the big-screen television while the latter is my notebook, so that I usually settle for the more comfortable chair and bigger picture despite the poorer picture quality. It also matters whether my son is home or not; he really uses a lot of bandwidth in the household wireless network!

Also, it depends upon how well your computer can handle those things. My graphics card can't handle RPI-TV's lowest quality feed.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

Today is 5 April 2012. There are 184 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is supposedly scheduled.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

Whoa...our national nightmare is over. Now I can enjoy my offseason rooting against the Red Sox.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

At least they'll have another year to add to the "NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championships" banner, which will equate Frozen Four run == knocked out in first round. Or maybe a new banner. Hmm...
