For the football fans-RPI 51 Castleton 21 as we even our record to 1-1. Certainly this was not Alfred, but a win is a win and the offense really sparkled today.

That won't give you guys much time to get to Schenectady by 6:30 to watch Jake Wood. http://www.jrbobcatshockey.com/leagues/schedules.cfm?leagueID=17925&clientID=4966 :D
Made it to both w/Aspydad....very impressive...he has very soft hands and has good vision(see's the whole ice)...also has that thing that JDA had kinda like another gear...very scrappy has no problem contesting for pucks....kinda reminds me of a Sean Backman or a Brock Little type player...also above average speed not only overall but very fast feet whith some giddy up ! Legit D1 player

That sounds impressive. I wonder if he will grow in the next couple of years.

Did any posters get photographed at the season ticket pick-up party? http://www.rpiathletics.com/news/2011/9/19/MHOCK_0919115921.aspx (see gallery)

Im pretty sure Im blocked by people in every one of those shots haha. I stopped in for a bit on my way to a party to get my tickets. Said hello to the BRO and had to leave before I could get the chance to say hello to a few of the other players. But they had a nice setup with the Big Red Freakout game playing on a pull down screen and had some food and drink. BTW If anyone who is short needs a reminder of how short you really are just stand next to the BRO for a few minutes. :)

Apparently the athletics department changed the structure of the Let's Go Red booster club this summer. They split off the "membership" into Fitness and Hospitality groups, and changed (read: increased) the pricing structure, and it's now called the "Engineers Pride" booster club. From a post on the RPISPORT-L list:

To: All fans and loyal patrons of RPI Athletics,

We are excited to inform you that we have restructured our Let’s Go Red! Booster Club involvement and we now offer new options. Many of you joined Let’s Go Red! in the past to receive a fitness membership or to enjoy the hospitality component, such as hot beverages and cookies at ice hockey games. New this year, we have broken the former Let’s Go Red! into three different components: Let’s Go Red!, Engineers Pride-Fitness, and Engineers Pride-Hospitality.

1. We will still accept Let’s Go Red! donations to support your favorite sports teams. These contributions are fully tax deductible as you are not receiving any tangible benefits. You can give to your favorite sports team online at www.alumni.rpi.edu/letsgored

2. Engineers Pride-Fitness is new for this year, but it still offers three different levels of fitness memberships. They are:
  • Coaches Club: Includes use of Mueller Center, Robison Pool, and Robison Gymnasium ($450.00 general public/$300.00 RPI alumni)
  • Captains Club: Includes use of the Robison Pool and Robison Gymnasium ($250.00 general public/$150.00 RPI alumni)
  • Varsity Club: Includes use of the Robison Gymnasium ($100.00 general public/$50.00 RPI alumni)
3. Engineers Pride-Hospitality is also new this year, and it offers three options for membership. They are:
  • Football Club: Includes use of the reception space during football games. Each guest must have a membership and membership card. ($50.00 general public/$40.00 RPI alumni)
  • Men’s Hockey Club: Includes use of reception space during men’s hockey games. Each guest must have a membership and membership card. ($150.00 general public/$125.00 RPI alumni)
  • Football and Men’s Hockey Club: Includes use of the reception space during football and men’s hockey games. Each guest must have a membership and membership card. ($175.00 general public/$150.00 RPI alumni)

Please note that the pricing structure has changed for the fitness and hospitality memberships. An Engineers Pride photo ID obtained at the ID desk in the Rensselaer Union is required for use of the facility and hospitality areas. The Campus Card Office is located in the Rensselaer Union Building, Room 1502. This Office is open Monday through Friday, 9:30am-3:00p. For more info, call (518) 276-6670. Once we receive your Engineers Pride application form with payment, we will send this information down to the ID desk in anticipation of your arrival.

We are pleased to roll out these new options for the upcoming season. The pricing structure for each is on the included form. One additional important note is that your membership options are now good for one calendar year, meaning if you join Sept. 2, 2011, your membership will be good through, Sept. 1, 2012.

Attached you will find a form for the membership options. Please feel free to call Carole Romano in the Athletic Department, at (518) 276-6685 with any questions.

We hope you enjoy the new program and look forward to seeing you at upcoming games. Thank you for your continued support of Rensselaer Athletics. Go Engineers!

Sincerely,

Jim Knowlton

Director of Athletics

Hold on to your wallet... haaa. Now if we can get the Colonel serious about moving traffic out of the HFH lots after games, we'll be all set !

Re: RPI Off-Season III: Another Helping of Mindless Speculation and Idle Chit Chat

I think that will be the most inside nickname I've ever heard.

I must admit I am excited about his addition as a recruit-but then again anything with Bourbon in it is just great for me.;)

But isn't his name pronounced Bourbon-Nay? Bourbon-Yay would be a different story. ;)
