RPI Off-Season III: Another Helping of Mindless Speculation and Idle Chit Chat

Re: RPI Off-Season III: Another Helping of Mindless Speculation and Idle Chit Chat

This is probably true of us as well, although we are at least starting from a better base than Harvard is.

Any luck with the captain's practices? I never heard back from the people I sent letters to.
No luck.

RPI playing in LP in the "festivus" tourney ... isn't festivus a Seinfeld term. Can't we say Christmas anymore ... I hate this PC stuff!!!

Depending on the referees we get, the airing of grievances will take place at the near-side beer stand. :D:p

Although it's unclear as to who we'll have to wrestle. ;)

Found this new blog called "1989 and still waiting" covering ECAC hockey which is being run by former UC blogger Dan Greene. He's made his preseason poll and all-conference team picks and has RPI tabbed for 7th with Nick Bailen being named to the all-conference team.

Also WaP is looking for some feedback regarding the podcasts they run during the season. Personally, I enjoy listening to them and hope they continue this season.

What the Hell is Festivus? Wasn't that the name of the side-kick on the old Gumsmoke TV show? No, wait that was the crazy uncle on The Addams Family, right?

What a riot, is it sponsored by Alcoa? Looks like the airing of the grievances is already underway! If you start working out now AD you might be able to do some damage during the feats of strength.

The refs better be on the watch for the airing of grievances. :)

Yes, the festivus pole will be brought to you by ALCOA. The airing of grievances will be underwritten by your friends at Martin, Harding & Mazzotti:D

Planning on attending the Christmas Tournament in Lake Placid (Festivus sounds like a Druid sacrificial ceremony...). Wicked informs me that the fan events will be at either the Crowne Plaza or the Holiday Inn. Which do I choose?

Could the ECAC tournament be on the move to Providence as early as this spring...

In addition, Bennett says that he will meet with officials from the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference on Aug. 30 to discuss moving the ECAC men’s hockey tournament to Providence.

Even though the ECAC is under contract to hold its tournament in Atlantic City, N.J., through 2013, “we’re going to see if we can convince them to come here this spring,” Bennett said. The ECAC tourney drew disappointing crowds in Atlantic City last March.

I hope this gets done! ECAC does not belong in AC.

I hope this is just idle speculation and they don’t move it again after one year. AC is not the best venue, but maybe they learned from last year and will work to improve this one. When it moves, move it to Placid or Boston and leave it there for a few years. Are they just going to load this tournament on a flatbed and shuttle it around the east to the highest bidder every year?
