Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Sorry for the really terrible quality, but my phone can't focus for crap.

http://rpitv.org/fh/1221001403.jpg - Very little of it has been put together.
http://rpitv.org/fh/1221001404.jpg - They got the ice all dirty!
http://rpitv.org/fh/1221001404a.jpg - The actual display modules

I have pictures of our new production room too, if anybody is interested. They are kind of boring at this point.

Very cool. And there's no such thing as "kind of boring" on here, given we commonly talk quite nerdy on here. Might as well put them up, we like to see what's going on with the 'Tute. :)

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Again, sorry for the crappy picture.

It doesn't look like anybody has skated on the ice at all since the USA game. You can still easily see the area they cleared on the ice for the shootout. I guess this makes sense. They probably started first thing Monday morning with the work.

Something I forgot to mention is they have started on the conduit for our cable runs and the goal cams. I am sooo excited!

Goodbye Puckman paraphernelia on the scoreboard. :(

BTW, I know RHam said he was going to be coming back a little early for video feeds, will you be working on goal cams at that time? Will they at least be in for the playoffs?

Also, I think this should be mentioned, I think RPI-TV does an absolutely terrific job. I know I've even seen the opposition applauding your efforts on here. I know it's expected from a technical institute, but it shows that it really is the student's teams. :)

You should also have read the comments on ELynah from Cornell fans last year. :)

Thanks FD, we love the praise! :-)

I can't be sure what is going on with specifics. Reilly has told me that he probably not be back for the Cornell / Colgate games (he was considering driving out as a fan; I would have loved to join him!), so he probably won't be back for the Clarkson / St. Lawrence games. I don't think the video portion of the scoreboard will be working at that point anyway; it's going to be interesting not to have penalty's listed.

The most recent information that I have is that the video board will be ready for Jan 28th + 29th games, and maybe sooner, but I am not sure. Hopefully everything will be done by playoffs :-D.

I am actually not going to be a full time student next semester, but I will hopefully still be in the area. I was hoping someone from our organization was going to pick up where I left off making contacts and working with the right people to get things that are suitable for us (and the fans!), but it doesn't seem like that has happened.

That is exciting. Replays and going to the video to get goal calls right. I really hope it doesn't make these referees look to bad. :o

It would only make them look bad if either they choose not to use it (wouldn't put it past a couple of them), or the correct call is not made should the evidence be conclusive and incontrovertible (Blackhawks vs. Jets).

Good point F Dude. I'm sure the powers that be at the ECAC have instructed the folks at HFH not to show any "iffy" calls made by the zebras.

OK smart-donkey, give me your worst! :D

Nothing but a Happy Holidays and my best to you and yours FDude. You make me laugh in a good way. You make me feel old when you post things like the hammer of grabthar stuff. Hopefully, I get a chance to meet you and you can explain that one to me. All my best.

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

I really wish they would paint all those blue seats red someday. Does anyone know why theres even blue seats inside HFH? Is it from the CD Islanders days?

They've been blue for as long as I can remember, at least back to 1983 . I think the blue seats should be painted red, or grey, similar to the new structure where Section 1 was.

The blue curtains were put in in the mid 80's as well, and I think its time to retire them.

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

I can vouch for the blue and red scheme since '78...kind of surprised they haven't painted them red by now.

I agree regarding the blue seats/curtains. I would note that a large portion of the blue seats in the "VIP" seating area are newer than the rest of the wooden seats. They are molded plastic and have a upholstered/padded seat bottoms..so painting these seats isn't really an option.

DrD's memory may be better than my mine on this, but I vaguely recall them being more of a natural wood color when I was a student.

He's still a member of our team and not an alum?

Sorry, but given how much you police us for this, I couldn't help it. :D

Congrats, Jerry. :)

I thought that re-signed with us last weekend. ;)
