Just so long as a group of fans doesn't think they're going to get respect when they sit in the student section and threaten to sue us. I won't name names, but their team plays in an mausoleum.....

Having been to that dump, you're absolutely right. We were the only fans there, and to quote some team members, "it felt like a home game".

In my conducting year with the Pep Band, it really was. Brown's band didn't show until halfway through the 3rd period. They let us do the US and Canadian Anthems, and gave us most of the play stoppages. From a band perspective I ran it exactly like a home game. We also outnumbered their fans by at least 2-1, which is pretty much the norm for that game.

Just an aside, we have the best **** band in the country. Always great to see them on the road. Dedicated and talented.

As Tom said, the video board is not up yet but they are working on assembling it at center ice. The old scoreboard is down and gone.

GREAT news ! Any chance they'll let me buy the old one? It'd look great in my backyard...:D I doubt it, they probably sold it to a rink in Kyrgyzstan.

There was a rumor at one time that the old one was being cannibalized and the 4 score panels being hung from the catwalks as supplements to the new video board. Not sure if there's any validity to it though.

Unless they intend on putting the "scoreboard" within the video monitor (which for the safety of the fans I hope they do so the kids aren't so mesmerized by watching the game on the monitor that they don't notice a stray puck flying at them), it wouldn't be too bad of an idea.

I think the new video board will be used as a scoreboard as well, RHamilton posted this a few weeks back.

The unit is scheduled to be shipped on 12/16, arriving 12/20ish. It will be installed over break and will be providing scoreboard functionality for the 1/7 and 1/8 Clarkson and SLU games. Video functionality won't be ready until a couple weeks later; there's quite a bit more work on the video infrastructure that needs to be done before we'll be able to send a video feed to it. The goal is 1/29 at the Freakout for video, but I'm hoping it'll be ready for the Dartmouth/Harvard series on 1/22 and 1/23. I'm returning to campus a couple weeks early to check out the infrastructure work that's being done and to run some tests.

I really wish they would paint all those blue seats red someday. Does anyone know why theres even blue seats inside HFH? Is it from the CD Islanders days?

I don't know, but I kind of like the contrast. I think all red would be a little dull for the building, unless they were to do either black or white seats in alternating sections (definitely red for what's already red). Also, remember that the curtains on the east end are blue as well, those would have to changed if you got rid of the blue seats, otherwise it'd just look out of place.

Sorry for the really terrible quality, but my phone can't focus for crap.

http://rpitv.org/fh/1221001403.jpg - Very little of it has been put together.
http://rpitv.org/fh/1221001404.jpg - They got the ice all dirty!
http://rpitv.org/fh/1221001404a.jpg - The actual display modules

I have pictures of our new production room too, if anybody is interested. They are kind of boring at this point.

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Again, sorry for the crappy picture.
http://rpitv.org/fh/1221001532.jpg - What it will look like.

It doesn't look like anybody has skated on the ice at all since the USA game. You can still easily see the area they cleared on the ice for the shootout. I guess this makes sense. They probably started first thing Monday morning with the work.

Something I forgot to mention is they have started on the conduit for our cable runs and the goal cams. I am sooo excited!
