RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

I am on board with Coach's remarks... what did they expect him to say? Besides, I can think of a few examples of hard fought games RPI had with ECAC teams who were 'really on their game' that year... UNH 73/74 and Colgate early 90's where our opponent won closely contested RS games and we won in the playoffs!:)

The UHMs and SlyFoxes of the <strike>world</strike> area seem to think RPI fans are upset that Union is strong. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Absolutely the right call by Seth. He knows these games could all have gone either way (including the RPI win, which I forgot to mention earlier was also a game won on a lucky bounce).

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Sure sounds like it, since you brought it up.

It's over, junior. Run along. You're not finding the worship you're demanding, so now you're just throwing a hissy fit, and we're all laughing at you. Cut your losses while you're still just this side of UHM's humiliation at the hands of the entire WCHA fanbase.

So all you have to do is declare victory and it makes it so? Did the military teach you that one?

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

LOL I'm not even involved in this conversation and I still see my name being brought up. I'm trying to behave myself and I've recently only had positive things to say about RPI's hockey team. I'll repeat what I said after the Union game: "RPI has a VERY good hockey team and I could definitely see them getting a bye in round 1. Chase and D'Amigo are absolutely filthy. It was a ridiculously entertaining 4 games between RPI and Union this season and I hope to see an even more entertaining 5th game...in Albany."

I had no problem with what Appert said after the game. I'd want Leaman to say the exact same thing if the situation was reversed. When you have four games that are so close like the ones between Union and RPI were, then it's tough to say who the better team is. There were definitely some lucky bounces that went Union's way and I'm happy about that because we are currently in first place. If the bounces had gone RPI's way, they could have easily been in first now.

That was the best post you ever made. I give credit where credit is due and in this case it is most certainly due. I retract my earlier statement and hope to see more of this from you in the future. Please murder Harvard on Friday. We'll rough up Dartmouth for you.

Deal. Hoping for another CD sweep this weekend. Anything but that would be disappointing.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

I always try to be a respectful fan and root for the local teams when they are not playing each other but I am getting a kick out of the Union fans that have all of a sudden come out of the woodwork now that they are on top of the ECAC. Thats wonderful that your team is leading the ECAC and all but where were you when the team wasnt doing that well? Dont come and bash our fanbase because your having a good year and we are in the middle of the pack because if there is something I have learned in watching the ECAC all these years it is that anything can and will happen. But if you want to keep coming at us then dont start crying come March when your team is done after one series. Do us all a favor and go back to whatever hole you can crawling out of once you saw Union winning and leading the ECAC.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Historic as in it's history. I'm a recent grad and in my time following Union hockey we have a rather good record against RPI. Do you think I am jealous that RPI won a national championship when I was 2?

Well, if you check the history of RPI, you will notice an ECAC Championship 1995, several trips to Lake Placid (which is where the ECAC Final Four used to be)in case you wernt aware, 2 NCAA Reigonal appearances in the 90's as well.

You can also check the back of old Section 1 if you ever decide to go to HFH with the other 30 Union fans that are usually there and note the players that RPI has put in the NHL, including a border line hall of famer now an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Oh yeah, that National Championship thing too.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

When I first read Coach Apperts quotes in the newspaper I was a bit surprised. But you know what I love the fact that he will put himself out there. Im sure as mentioned before that he probably then ripped the team a new one at practice but the man isnt afraid to take a walk out on the limb and say things like that. He is a young coach and confident in his teams ability so who knows where this season will end up but I have a feeling it is going to be a fun month plus of hockey at the field house and on the road.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Yeah Jerry D'Amigo is quite clutch when he plays on a line with world-class teamates. When he plays on RPI? Not so much.

WOW. Anyone who takes a shot at Jerry D'Amigo has no class at all and seriously needs some help. He deserves respect as well as his teammates. Low Blow even from you.

Umm... I think you meant to say FUTURE HALL OF FAMER!

As far as Union is concerned - I'm happy that they are doing well. I'm not upset that we lost as it appears to have been anyone's game. I think Appert's comments were perfectly appropriate and don't see what the issue is.

D'Amigo has 17 points in 20 games. Would place him 4th on Union. And he is a freshman. He has 5 more points than your highest scoring freshman.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Never took statistics. If Union was a little better than RPI then what would the chances be that Union would have 3 wins after 4 games?

Sorry that I was out, but "a little" is not exactly a precise mathematical term. :)

Seeing as how they tried to injure him TWICE before the World Juniors and he STILL helped his team get the gold.....

Srsly.
