RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Yes, all games were close but something needs to be said for the fact that in the end, 3 of the 4 went Union's way. It's not all "lucky bounces".

What Ralph said. Earlier today, I mentioned that if these teams played 10 games this season, RPI would win 5.

Besides, how did Union score the winning goal in the RPI tournament? Good bounce. How did they come back in the ECAC game in Troy? Good bounce. How did they score both of their meaningful goals on Saturday? Good set pieces on the faceoff. Are you honestly going to argue that those instances make Union the better team? Please say yes. I need a good laugh.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Have you ever taken a course in statistics? Never mind, you went to Union.

If two teams are evenly matched, half the time, the series would be 3 wins for one team. ( 1/8 a sweep, and 3/8 a split)

Never took statistics. If Union was a little better than RPI then what would the chances be that Union would have 3 wins after 4 games?

I'm not saying that Union are the Detroit Red Wings and RPI are the Albany River Rats. But isn't it possible that Union is a little bit better than RPI?

Keep whining, it's endearing.

We've already laid out a pretty clear cut case using numbers and logic to support our argument. You've used the kindergarten method.

There's more to real life situations and events then logic and numbers. A hockey team isn't a machine that you can engineer. How do you quantify team chemistry and clutch performances? And "lucky bounces" for that matter..

This is awesome. I can't decide whether this guy is exhibiting Jealous Kid Brother Syndrome or Battered Wife Syndrome. I'm leaning toward the former, he really, really, really needs our approval to be happy.

Clutch performances?

Ye gods.

Yes, you're right I'm jealous of a team that has 7 less points in the standings.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Does this guy really want to get into semantics over clutch performances with a team that has one Jerry Vincent D'Amigo among its ranks? Seriously?

Yeah Jerry D'Amigo is quite clutch when he plays on a line with world-class teamates. When he plays on RPI? Not so much.

Union's jealousy towards RPI is historic, not recent, son. I shouldn't have to go over this again.

Are you looking to improve on your "NUH-UH" comeback to the logic and numbers that Ralph and I have laid before you, or is this conversation at a successful conclusion.

I'm calling this one. Knockout in the third round.

Winner, and still the Logical Argument champion... Ralph Baer.

Give it up SlyFox. You have to be on a very short list of members Red Cloud approves of to post here, or he will be a combative a*****e that thinks a tour in Iraq gives him the right to s__t on everyone.

You're on the list of posters that no one likes, so... Congratulations on that.

You just don't get it, TimV. There's no "list" that I maintain. If there was, it would be the inverse - a list of dopes, and you'd be prominently featured in its shortness. It's just a matter of not acting like a total jerk or spouting off with opinions that have no basis in reality whatsoever, something that you and SlyFox just haven't quite figured out yet.

My tour in Iraq has nothing to do with anything. One wonders why you would even bring that up.

Historic as in it's history. I'm a recent grad and in my time following Union hockey we have a rather good record against RPI. Do you think I am jealous that RPI won a national championship when I was 2?

Sure sounds like it, since you brought it up.

It's over, junior. Run along. You're not finding the worship you're demanding, so now you're just throwing a hissy fit, and we're all laughing at you. Cut your losses while you're still just this side of UHM's humiliation at the hands of the entire WCHA fanbase.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Naturally some Union fans are treating this like it's some kind of disrespect. Whatever. The only team we've played this season that I walked away saying "that's a better team" was Michigan State. If they wanted the same treatment they should have tried being overpowering in one of the four games we played against them. They weren't, they're not. The reason these games were all close is because we're on the same plane.

I am on board with Coach's remarks... what did they expect him to say? Besides, I can think of a few examples of hard fought games RPI had with ECAC teams who were 'really on their game' that year... UNH 73/74 and Colgate early 90's where our opponent won closely contested RS games and we won in the playoffs!:)
