RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

If people are going to mention that one loss does not a season make, then the same applies in the other direction. We won one game. Against a team ranked in accordance with a poll that, at this time of year, is completely meaningless. We were also shut out in another game. That makes us 1-1-0 going into Alaska. Doesn't tell us much. If the team starts to put forth the effort they displayed on Sunday on a consistent basis, then we'll have some good news to talk about. Until then, the questions we have about the team this year have yet to be answered, especially when you also take this past Friday's entire game into account.

Spin this reply however you want; it doesn't change the reality of needing more of a sample to be able to judge this team. Oh, and if you want butt-kissing when it comes to that one win, there are plenty of other sources that are able to give it to you, including on a national scope.

Stop lecturing people and be quiet. It's sad to see where you have devolved where you root against this team.

RPI sweeps the ECAC awards, as Bourbonnais, Tironese, and Kasdorf win POTW, ROTW, and GOTW, respectively!

Lugnut, stop being proud of your team, its too small of a sample size (per you know who dude).

AspyDad, we should connect for a cocktail, our stories sound similar. Except for the humble part. :D

SS, I hope this finds you and yours well. I'm usually at the rec room after most games. I'm a ruggedly handsome man, so it will be easy to spot me. Enjoy the season.

Just out of curiosity, what is the rec room?

They got the award wrong in the picture. :)

It is hard to draw the conclusion that anyone on this thread roots against this team. To be objective, nothing I have seen thus far convinces me that the team has solved last season's major problem - the inability to score. I hope that the small sample size thus far is not a true indicator going forward however pointing out the facts does not mean I root against the team either. One can point out shortcomings and still be a fan.

To be fair, AspyDad is basing some of this on my picking the opposing goalie on the Pick to Click game, which I actually started to do as a means of reverse psychology to get the team to play well (not that they look at that, but if superstition makes us feel better about the team, why spoil a good thing).

Shots on net are part of the scoring "woes", as you can't score if you don't shoot. And it's not like they aren't trying, either, as we've seen plenty of both blocked shots and off target attempts (not counted as shots, but still one of those important things the score sheet doesn't tell you). Obviously it's going to be tough because first thing on the mind is to not have a forward block your shot, as it raises the chances of a counter-attack. They want to work the good shot or back-door pass, or set up a specific person for the shot (something which our league opponents have figured out in the past few years and tightly marked accordingly). This is something that can obviously be worked, so give practice some time, and I'm sure there'll be improvements.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

Should it surprise us that Jason Kasdorf came back with a vengeance over the weekend with a fantastic performance against Boston College.? Probably not. I watched, like most college hockey fans on my timeline were, s Kasdorf sent shots after shot, confidently away. It was a different Kasdorf than we have seen in a couple of seasons, as he has struggled with injury...... http://blog.collegehockeynews.com/2015/10/three-things-i-think-october-14-2015/

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

I was listening to Ken Schott interview former USCHO poster Joe Yerdon on his radio segment today. When Schott began, he stated that Joe was an RPI alum. Is that true? I thought that he became an RPI fan because he was a local resident and went to another (upstate ;) ) college.
